What is a Cyber Cafe or Internet Cafe?

Best Freelancers to help you Grow your Business

Cyber cafe or internet cafe is a place where internet applications are accessible by the general public. Customers buy vouchers, which contain a user name, and password that gives them access to the internet via any computer in the internet cafe.

The major services offered by internet cafes are internet applications like email, chatting, downloads and web browsing. Other applications available at internet cafes include office software like MS Office, graphic software like CorelDraw and computer games.

Ideally, an internet cafe should sell food and drinks, however most cafes in Nigeria focus on computer related services. Internet cafes also offer scanning and printing services.

You can also come to some Internet cafes with your own laptop computer. Your laptop computer is connected to the Cyber cafe’s LAN via a wired or wireless connection via Wi-Fi. A Cyber Cafe that offers a wireless connection may also be called a Wireless Hotspot. You then buy the voucher and use your own laptop computer to access the internet.

You can buy your computer accessories and software from some internet cafes. In fact an internet cafe offers a wide range of services. You do not even need to know how to use internet or computers to take advantage of these services.

Good internet cafes offer free training services to customers that need it. If you are not interested in learning right away, most good internet cafes will assist you in achieving your immediate goal (checking your email, opening an email account, sending an email, posting a CV, scanning a document, checking your result in WAEC, NECO, JAMB Examinations, what ever).
