The latest generation of Toyota Prius 5-door hatchback will go on sale in the US market this April. Toyota Prius 2010 comes with more power, good interior and cargo space, and of course excellent fuel economy low emissions.
Toyota Prius 2010 is equipped with a 4-cylinder 1.8 litre dual VVT-i engine capable of delivering 98hp at 4,000rpm. The engine is mated with a powerful 60kw electric motor. Working together, Toyota Prius engine and electric motor deliver a total combined power of 134hp. Toyota Prius is equipped with a 1-speed planetary gear system (continuous variable transmission CVT). Prius comes with Nickel Metal Hydride NiMH battery pack.

Toyota Prius incorporates, a Hybrid Synergy Drive HSD, that manages the amount power delivered by the engine and generator-motor, ensuring that only what is required from each to run the car efficiently is utilised at any time.

Toyota Prius is equipped with Anti-lock Braking System ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution EBD. Standard in all Toyota Prius models are advanced front and side-curtain airbags, 60/40 split rear seat, and air conditioning.

Optional features for Toyota Prius include an 8-speaker JBL audio system with DVD, XM satellite radio and navigation system. Other optional Toyota Prius features include Intelligent Parking System, Bluetooth, LED headlights, and Radar system.

Also optional in Toyota Prius 2010 is a power moonroof mounted with a solar panel. The solar panel provides energy for the ventilation system of Toyota Prius. The air conditioning or heating system does not receive power from engine saving fuel. This means that even when the engine is off, you can remotely condition the interior air temperature of Toyota Prius.

New to Toyota Prius 2010 is an electric water pump, which eliminates engine belts and contributing to fuel economy.

Toyota Prius offers three driving modes namely Power, Economy, and EV. EV mode allows you to drive with electric power only (without using petrol). When on Economy mode, Toyota Prius offers improved fuel economy when using petrol engine. Power mode provides for conditions where more power is required.

Toyota Prius offers excellent fuel economy with a combined fuel economy of 4.7 litres per 100km.

Toyota has an objective of selling 400,000 Prius each year.

Toyota Prius 2010 will be available at Toyota auto dealers in the United States by April 2009.

You are not likely to find Toyota Prius and other hybrid cars in Nigeria at authorised Toyota dealers place. This is because the Nigerian market is not matured for hybrid electric vehicles.
