BlackBerry Storm 2, is the successor of the BlackBerry Storm 1 from Research In Motion (RIM). BlackBerry Storm2 retains all the good sides of BlackBerry Storm 1 and improved on most of its frustrating operations. Notable additions to BlackBerry Storm 2 is an improved touchscreen, Wi-Fi, more storage space with 2GB built-in memory, built-in GPS with A-GPS, and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR. Like is customary with BlackBerry Phones, Blackberry Storm 2 features extensive messaging and connectivity features.
Like BlackBerry Storm 1, Storm 2 is available in two models: namely BlackBerry Storm 9520 and Storm 9550. Blackberry Storm 2 9520 replaces Storm 9500 and supports UMTS/HSDPA and quad-band GSM as well as EDGE/GPRS data networks. Blackberry Storm 9550 adds CDMA supporting dual-band CDMA/EVDO Rev A networks. BlackBerry Storm 2 9550 will succeed BlackBerry Storm 9530.
BlackBerry Storm 2 still retains the SurePress Touchscreen technology, but it is now enhanced to improve user experience. As for physical spec the display is similar to BlackBerry Storm 1: 3.25 inch 360 x 480 pixels TFT scratch-resistant touchscreen with SurePress capacitive touchscreen eliminating the need for trackball.
Wi-Fi was absent in BlackBerry Storm 1, RIM added Wi-Fi to BlackBerry Storm 2, probably responding to consumer demand. RIM also increased the storage capacity of BlackBerry Storm 2. It now has 2GB of built-in memory card, 1GB more than available in BlackBerry Storm 1. The built-in flash memory was also doubled from 128MB to 256MB.
