Unlike the Kindle and the Nook reader, which feature a 6 inch E ink electronic paper display, the Barnes and Noble Nook Color reader features a color touchscreen displays. Color displays are great for reading magazine, books with diagrams and images, and children’s books. However, they do not read like paper, strains the eye if read for too long, glares when read under the sun and consumes lots of power. Barnes and Noble Nook reader’s display offers clear, sharp text and images with a resolution of 1024 x 600 at 169 pixels per inch (PPI). To enable user adjust display for comfortable reading, the Nook Color reader features brightness adjustment. Users have six font sizes to choose from for comfortable reading as well change background color and font style.

Wireless Connectivity

The Barnes and Noble Nook Color reader offers a Wi-Fi only. Shop for books and download books in seconds. Browse the web for details and clarification on topics in the book you are reading. Nook Color reader has no built-in support 3G cellular.

High storage capacity

The Barnes and Noble Nook Color e-reader comes with a 8GB memory card, which according to Barnes and Noble can store up to 6,000 books. The memory can be extended to up to 32GB via microSD slot, providing 4 times more storage space. Plus you can use as many memory cards as you may require to extend the storage capacity of your Nook Color reader even further. Just remove the memory when full and insert a new one.

Lend Books to Friends

Like the Nook reader, the Nook Color has a LendMe feature which enables you share your books with friends. With the LendMe feature, you can lend supported books to friends and family. Books can be lent for up to 14 days. Just select the book you want to lend to a friend and send it to their Nook reader or to the Nook software on their computer or handheld device. Your friends can also lend you books. Note that, when you lend a book to someone, you will no longer be able to access it until the lending period is over.
