Google Trader is a classified site offered by Google in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and Uganda. Google Trader, like other classified Ads sites, enables users to buy or sell products and services online. However, the uniqueness of Google Traders is that users can find and post classified Ads using SMS on their mobile phone. Currently Google Trader SMS service is available on MTN and Airtel in Nigeria.

How to post Ads with SMS
To post classified Ads on Google Trader via SMS, you must register for Google Trader on your mobile phone. To register your mobile phone for Google Trader, just SMS Register to 6007. Once registered, you can start posting classified ads on Google Trader using SMS.
To post a classified Ad on Google trader via SMS, you must start it with the keyword Sell. The keyword is followed by your sales pitch. Make sure you include price, location and contact details in the pitch. An example of posting an Ad on Google Trader could be Sell New Nokia N8 N65,000 Lagos 01-1234567. Send the SMS containing the Ad to 6007.
To view all the classified Ads you have posted via SMS, text List to 6007. You will receive an SMS with all your Ad listing. Each Ad listing has a number in front which you can use as reference. To delete a classified Ad listing from Google Trader, SMS Delete followed by the number reference of the listing to 6007. For example, to delete the third classified Ad in your listing SMS Delete 3 to 6007.
How to Find Ads with SMS
To search for an Ad offering of a product or service, you use the keyword Buy followed by the product or service you are looking for. For example to search for Ad listings for BlackBerry Bold 9900 for sale, SMS Buy BlackBerry 9900 to 6007. In seconds, you will receive SMS containing Ad listings for the product or service you searched for.
As for price, Google states that the service is free, but that your carrier may charge you for the SMS you send. However, I used Google Trader on an Airtel phone to search for classified Ads and no credit was deducted from my account. I did two searches and in both cases it was free.
