A Unified Content Store with Google Branding

Google’s major move here is to add its name to the store, bringing its brand name closer to consumers. This may also imply Google is looking beyond Android as the store will also support content for Chrome as well as apps and games targeted at its social networking service Google+.

So, Google wants to consolidate its services and limit the fragmentation of its services. The New Google Play Store for now consists of the Google Play apps and games, Google Play Books, Google Play Music, and Google Play Movies.

True Google Play experience only in the US

Although Google Play promises a unified access to apps, games, music, books, and movies, most Android users outside the United States may not be able to access most of the other types of contents beyond some apps and games. For example Google Play Music and Google Play Movies are not available in Nigeria and in most countries outside the United States.

Some apps, games, and books are not available in all countries. According to Google this is due to international licensing constraints. However, the company promises to navigate through these licensing issues and offer more content to more countries. So, in couple of months or years Google Play will offer the same experience globally or at least in most countries.
