The Design
The iPhone 5S is sleeker with its Aluminium body. It is both lighter and slimmer than the iPhone 5C which comes in stylish polycarbonate body in attractive colours: yellow, green, blue, red, or white. Apple iPhone 5S is available in space gray, gold, or silver.
Fingerprint Scanner
iPhone 5S’s most talked about feature is the Touch ID, which is a built-in fingerprint scanner on the home button that helps consumers better secure their iPhone. With Touch ID you can easily unlock your iPhone or buy apps simply by touching the home button. iPhone 5C lacks Touch ID.
Hardware & Software
Apple iPhone 5S comes with a new processor: a 64-bit A7 processor which according to Apple will make the iPhone 5S twice as fast as the iPhone 5 with 5 times faster graphics. iPhone 5C comes with the same A6 processor in the iPhone 5 however that does not mean the performance will be similar, for one iPhone 5C may be loaded with more RAM than the iPhone 5.
iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will both ship with the new iOS 7. In terms of speed, the iPhone 5S should be faster on account of the faster processor, but we do not expect it to be up to twice as fast. iPhone 5S comes with the M7 motion coprocessor which adds fitness tracking feature on the flagship device.
Aside these the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are largely the same. They both feature the same 4.0-inch Retina display and same 8 megapixel iSight camera with 1.2 MP FaceTime camera, and same battery life. They both feature 4G LTE and dual-band Wi-Fi.

The Bottom Line
The only reason to choose the iPhone 5C over the iPhone 5S is its lower price, that’s why it is called the low cost iPhone. Another is the multiple colour options. Aside this two reasons, the iPhone 5S is a much better smart phone with faster performance and new fingerprint security.
So, yes iPhone 5S is a better device, but iPhone 5C is budget friendly.
