Apple has finally launched a low cost iPhone, the iPhone 5C. It may not be as low cost as some of us had expected, but it is a good effort from a company known for building premium smart phones. The new iPhone 5C is more or less like the iPhone 5 in a polycarbonate plastic shell. iPhone 8 is the latest phone from Apple. Apple iPhone 5C is built to attract new consumers to the iPhone kingdom and at a price of $99 on two-year contract is sure to achieve that especially in countries where contract-purchase (lease) of phones is available. However, at an off contract price of around 469 GBP (around 110,000 Naira), the iPhone 5C will find it hard to make a dent in countries like Nigeria where contracts are not available. iPhone 5C price starts at 95,000 Naira in Nigeria.
Like the iPhone 5, the iPhone 5C features a 4.0-inch Retina display wrapped around by a plastic shell with a steel frame that also serves as the antenna. It is slimmer, but heavier on account of all the plastic. iPhone 5C is available in white, pink, yellow, blue, and green colours with built-in storage of 16GB or 32GB.
Apple iPhone 5C will ship with iOS 7 on an A6 processor, so performance is expected to be similar, if not better than the iPhone 5. It comes with an 8 megapixels camera on the back and a 1.2 megapixels camera on the front with a BSI sensor. iPhone 5C also features high-speed 4G LTE with HSPA+.
