Curved TVs had a big showing at CES 2014 in Las Vegas with Samsung and LG leading the charge. The two companies showed off their models at the Consumer Electronics Show as the next best thing, but most reviewers are not convinced calling it a “gimmick”. However, it is only a matter of time before these companies begin rolling out reasons why your next TV should be a Curved TV.

LG 77-inch 4K Flexible OLED TV switch from Curved TV to Flat

LG showcased 3 new OLED Curved Tvs with ultra HD (4k) resolution. The 3 Curved TVs will measure 55-inch, 65-inch, or, 77-inch. According to LG all three Curved TVs will be available later this year.

LG also unveiled a 105-inch Curved Ultra HD TV running LG’s new WebOS based Smart TV. The TV offers stunning pictures with 21:9 aspect ratio. A more practical 65-inch Curved TV model was also unveiled.

For consumers who may not be convinced about Curved TVs, LG also displayed a 77-inch 4K Flexible OLED TV that can be switched between a Curved TV display and a Flat screen TV through the remote (Bendable TV), offering the best of both worlds.

Samsung also showed off a Bendable TV of its own and a 105-inch Curved TV as well. Samsung will be offering an 4k 85-inch bendable Tv while the its Ultra HD 105-inch Curved TV will also offer 21:9 aspect ratio.

For now most Curved TVs are available either with OLED displays or LED backlit LCD displays.
