Mid-range Android Phone
Despite its 5.5-inch display and octa-core processor, the Infinix Alpha 8 still stacks-up as a mid-range device in the smartphone kingdom. The display is built on IPS with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The octa-core processor from MediaTek clocks at 1.7GHz per Cortex A7 core and with the support of 2GB of RAM should deliver a smooth performance.
The major snag of this device is that it is loaded with Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) and not the latest Android 4.4.2 (KitKat). This is more disappointing if you consider the fact that this smartphone was released in June 2014, the same month that Google unveiled the next generation of Android, the Android L. Hopefully, Infinix will offer updates, something they are yet to do for existing offerings.
Infinix Alpha 8 sports a 13 megapixels camera on the back with 1080p HD video recording. A 5 megapixels front facing camera is also provided. Infinix Alpha 8 comes with 16GB built-in storage, which expandable by up to 32GB via microSD.
