Jumia Extends Black Friday Sale to Sunday

Best Freelancers to help you Grow your Business

Jumia has apologised to customers for the several hours outage suffered by the online store on Black Friday which resulted in many customers not being able to successfully complete orders on what was supposed to be the biggest shopping day of the year. As a result, the retailer is extending Black Friday sale to 11:59pm Sunday to give enough time for all customers who could not succeed on Black Friday to do so.

Jumia sent out emails aptly titled “Jumia came between you and shopping: Black Friday extended!” and signed by the CEO Nicolas Martins this morning confirming that the cause of the disruptions was due to unprecedented demand.

In the wordings of the letter “Demand for our (Jumia) services reached an unprecedented level”. It went on to say “We had difficulty keeping up with the huge number of requests. The load in our servers led to drop outs, significantly impacting the shopping experience”.

Jumia offered some of the best deals on Black Friday, offering the deep discounts on a popular products like Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S5 selling for just N41,500 and the new Sony PS4 selling for just 60,000 Naira. The huge demand for these deals probably led to the disruptions.

However, these were not the only deals. We identified other great deals for Jumia Black Friday. See them below:

Jumia has also announced that the double Awoof voucher which was only supposed to be valid for only Black Friday will still be valid till Sunday. So, if you were unable to use your voucher on Black Friday, you can use it now. Here is the letter.
