Infinix Hot is a dual-SIM Android phone with a 5-inch display, quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, all at a low price of 14,500 Naira. Our review unit from Jumia Nigeria is the yellow model, though the Infinix Hot is also available in black, red, white, and green.
The Design
Infinix Hot offers a solid design. Though I did not drop it, it looks like a device that you can drop and pickup without any issues. There is no glass to shatter. The design does not look fragile in anyway.
The back cover is plastic and extends to the sides. The back offers matte finishing with tiny, but attractive hexagonal patterns. Gripping is good, though I did not test with sweaty hands. The word Infinix is inscribed about a third of the way from the top with a shinny metallic material.
The 5 megapixels camera and the LED flash are located on the top end of the back with the loudspeaker on the lower end of the back.
Infinix Hot sports two physical buttons on the right side. The first is the volume button with the lower and smaller button, the power button.
On the top side of the phone is the 3.5mm audio jack and the microUSB port for charging and syching with your computer.
The back cover of the Infinix Hot can be removed. You remove the cover of the Infinix Hot to access the dual-SIM slot. SIM 1 requires the standard sized mini-SIM, while SIM 2 requires the smaller micro SIM card. Infinix Hot also features a microSD card slot, which takes up to 64GB memory card for storage expansion.
Infinix Hot comes with rounded corners, though the angles of the curve is small. Above the 5-inch display is the 2 megapixels front camera and the earpiece, while the 3 capacitive touch buttons for menu, home, and back respectively are located below the display.
The Display
Infinix Hot features a bright display, though the pixels are visible. This should not be surprising, since the Infinix Hot offers a modest 480 x 854 pixels resolution. Colours also appear a bit over-saturated.
That said, Infinix Hot’s display is good for the price. It offers a large 5-inch screen with texts and images clear and sharp, so browsing and video watching should be okay.
Infinix Hot offers automatic screen brightness, but the default is manually set to a very high value, which makes the screen appear too bright indoors. The auto brightness works better if you ask me. You can change to auto brightness in the Settings.
The Camera
Infinix Hot features a 5 megapixels camera on the back with LED Flash and a 2 megapixels front facing camera. The cameras are basic, though the rear camera offers features like autofocus, geo-tagging, smile focus, Panorama, and face detection.
The camera also has a photo editor for touching-up your photos before sharing with the world.
The Infinix Note 3 is the top of the line phablet from Infinix.
The Performance
Infinix Hot performs smoothly. It sports a 1.3GHz quad-core processor in a Mediatek MT6582 chipset with 1GB of RAM. Infinix Hot was average in our AnTuTu Benchmark tests.
While Infinix Hot offered high performance, performing better than 60% of smartphones, its game performance was poor only surpassing 40% of smartphones. Battery performance is average, better than 50% of smartphone.
Infinix Hot scored 19,831 on the AnTuTu Benchmark, which is average at best.
The Software
Infinix Hot comes with Android 4.4.2 (KitKat). The interface is familiar and navigating it will not be a problem. The bottom row consists of five icons with the middle icon the menu for accessing all apps in the phone.
The large Google search bar is clearly visible. One good thing about the Infinix Hot is that it is loaded with a lot of apps up front. Games like Asphalt 7, Assassin’s Creed III, GT Racing 2, the Avengers, etc are all preloaded. Whatsapp, Viber, and YouTube all come preloaded. Of course, if you need more Apps, you can download more at the Google Play Store, which is also preloaded.
Once you log-in to one of the Google services, you can sync with all other services like your Gmail, Photos from the Cloud, etc.

Conclusion
Infinix Hot is built for consumers on budget and for the price it is sold is a steal. It offers a large 5-inch screen, respectable performance, and decent battery life.
The Infinix Hot scored low in high demand games, but was not too low off the mark doing better than 40% of smartphones. If you need a low cost smartphone for browsing the web and streaming videos, the Infinix Hot should be somewhere near the top of your list.
