The Xperia M4 Aqua is a new smartphone from Sony targeted at the mid-range segment of the market. The IP68-certified Android smartphone is waterproof and dustproof with a decent battery, amongst other cool features.
The Design
The Xperia M4 Aqua could rightly be described as a cheap version of Sony’s flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z3. The device comes in a lightweight, plastic body – unlike the metal frame and glass rear of its more-expensive cousin.
Sony Xperia M4 Aqua has three on-screen touch buttons, with power button and volume control placed on the right side of the device. The sleek and slim device comes in at a moderate thickness of 7.3 mm.
Display and Cameras
Sony Xperia M4 Aqua offers a 5-inch IPS display with an HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and a pixel density of 294ppi on the phone. The screen should manage to deliver an exciting viewing experience when the device is in use.
Sony Xperia M4 Aqua has a 13 megapixels, 1/3” sensor camera on the back with LED flash, autofocus and back-illuminated sensor (BSI) features. The Superior Auto feature ensures “perfect shots” are taken every time with its 52-scenario settings. There is also a 5 megapixels front-facing shooter with 88-degree wide-angle lens and 720p HD video recording.
Processor, Software and Memory
Sony Xperia M4 Aqua uses a 64-bit, octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.7GHz. The processor should be able to utilize the 64-bit support provided in the Android 5.0 (Lollipop) OS, on which the phone runs, to the maximum. The device comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage, which can be expanded with microSD cards of up to 32GB.
Other Specs
The mid-range smartphone is equipped with a 2400mAh battery that can last up to two days. Sony Xperia M4 Aqua is waterproof and dust-protected with an Ingress Protection rating of IP65 and IP68.
You can immerse the device in water that is up to 1.5m deep for no more than 30 minutes without issues. Connectivity options supported on the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua include 3G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.
