Unveiled at CES 2015, the Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 3 (4.5) is an affordable smartphone that offers an option for one of three operating system, namely Android, Windows Phone, or Firefox. It promises ease of use by giving users the opportunity to choose a platform that fits perfectly with their work and home use, while also offering 4G LTE connectivity in spite of an expected budget friendly price.

Note that the three platforms are not loaded on the phone. Each unit of the Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 3 (4.5) comes with one operating system. So, the choice you actually have is in picking the model loaded with your preferred OS.

Display and Camera

Alcatel Pixi 3 (4.5) is fitted with a 4.5-inch FWVGA display having a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. The capacitive 2 points touchscreen uses a TFT panel. In the camera area, this smartphone is equipped with a 5-megapixel sensor with Flash, Filters, HDR and Panorama.

The snapper has HD (720p) video recording capability. There is also a front-facing camera as well.

Performance

Under the hood, the 3G model of Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 3 (4.5) is equipped with a dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz, while the 4G variant is powered by a quad-core chip running at a speed of 1.1GHz.

Support is provided to the processor by a RAM of either 512MB or 1GB. A battery which Alcatel says could deliver up to 10 hours of use is supplied with the device.

Multiple Platforms

One of the interesting aspects to the Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 3 (4.5) is the fact that it is OS-agnostic. What this means is that the phone can run on any of the supported operating systems which are: Windows Phone, Android and Firefox platforms.

Essentially, you are free to choose a platform that your existing work or home devices already run on.

Other Specs and Features

Internal storage provided on the Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 3 (4.5) is 4GB and this can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card. Available connectivity options include microUSB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, 3G, 4G LTE and Wi-Fi b02.11 b/g/n.

USB modem tethering is also supported. Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 3 (4.5) offers enhanced protection by enabling users to have a Guest Mode, which restricts content other people can have access to when the device is in their possession.

Pricing and availability

Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 3 (4.5) is not available in Nigeria. Alcatel does not currently offer phones in Nigeria so the availability of this phone in the country is in doubt. If and when available, Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 3 (4.5) Price in Nigeria is expected at around N25,000.
