Unveiled at CES 2015 in Las Vegas, the Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30 is a budget Android tablet. Sporting a relatively svelte profile, the slate offers acceptable performance and appears targeted at users with special interest in music and multimedia.
The Design
Judging by its appearance, the Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30 is intended to be easy to carry around. The tablet is slimmer than a good number of its rivals on the market at a thickness of just 8.9 mm.
In addition to its relative thinness, the Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30 weighs just 269 grams, which is impressive given its large display. It is available in ebony black, pearl white, aqua blue and cotton candy colours.
Display and Camera
This affordable slate packs a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. The IPS screen ensures stunning wide-angle viewing and great colour reproduction when viewing photos/videos or when playing games on the Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30.
It is true that most tablet users hardly use the cameras on their devices. But, Lenovo appears to take things a bit to the extreme by providing a 2 megapixels rear camera and a 0.3 megapixels front facing shooter on the Tab 2 A7-30.
Performance and Software
Potential users of the Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30 are in for an acceptably responsive performance. This is because the tablet is equipped with a quad-core MediaTek processor running at 1.3GHz.
The chip is backed by a decent RAM of 1GB for its price. Android 4.4 (KitKat) which powers the tablet features Smart User Interface (SUI) for seamless use. Users of the Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30 will be able to upgrade to Android 5.0 (Lollipop) free of charge at a time to be determined by Lenovo.
Other Specs and Features
Juice for running the slate is provided by a 3450mAh Li-Ion battery, which Lenovo says can deliver up to 8 hours of wireless surfing. Onboard storage will be 8GB or 16GB, which is expandable by up to 32GB via a microSD slot.
Users are in for quality multimedia experience with the provision of a front-facing speaker with Dolby Audio technology. The Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30 is available in Wi-Fi only and 3G models. It supports voice and video calls.
