Unveiled alongside the 4K-enabled Amazon Fire TV, the Fire TV Stick offers a cheaper and more portable means of accessing online entertainment like movies, music, and games. It is a direct rival to the likes of Roku Streaming Stick and Google Chromecast. The latest edition of the streaming stick comes with a remote that allows you find content with voice commands.

Design and Setup
Amazon Fire TV Stick parades a very portable design – a little bigger than an average-sized flash drive. It features a plastic chassis with an Amazon logo on the side.
Amazon Fire TV Stick is designed to be plugged into a TV or monitor via an HDMI port. If your set is wall-mounted with no space at the rear, you could use an HDMI extender cable that comes with the device. It is then connected to a power source using a micro-USB power adapter.
Processor and Memory
Quite understandably, the Fire TV Stick is driven by a dual-core processor, unlike the quad-core chip on the new Fire TV.
The processor, which is backed by 1 GB of RAM, will certainly not be able to deliver the quality of performance the larger streamer can provide, but it should do well compared to rival streaming sticks. Onboard storage memory is 8 GB, which is not expandable.
Other Specs and Features
The main difference in the new Amazon Fire TV Stick is that it comes with a voice-enabled remote control. Previously, you will need to download an app on your smartphone to use voice search functionality.
The voice controls will come in quite handy in situations where you wish to watch a movie or show and you cannot remember the title or name; just mention the names of a couple of people that were in it and watch what happens.
Note that the Fire Stick can also be bundled with a standard remote that is not voice-enabled, which is about $10 cheaper compared to the model with the voice-enabled remote.
The Fire TV Stick features Dolby Digital Plus for awesome surround sound for truly immersive viewing experience. It also has dual-band Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n) with MIMO for fast wireless connectivity. The streaming stick supports up to Full HD (1080p) video output.
Of course, the Fire TV Stick is a streaming stick for enjoying online content on your TV, so its value is in the content it offers. According to Amazon, the Fire TV Stick gives users access to over 250,000 TV episodes and movies on Netflix, Amazon Video, HBO GO, and Hulu.
There are also games to play and music to listen to through services like Pandora, iHeartRadio, and Spotify.
