Huawei G8 is a mid-range flagship smartphone that offers users solid performance and great image-capturing capability. The handset shows off an attractive metal body and awesome display while an octa-core processor by Qualcomm provides superb firepower for a great user experience.
Design and Display
You will most likely be immediately attracted to the Huawei G8 at first sight with its premium-looking metal chassis. It has a slim profile at a thickness of only 7.5 millimetres and bulks in at 167 grams (with the battery) – decent for a device of this size.
Huawei G8 crams in a massive 5.5-inch diagonal display with a Full-HD resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, which give you a stunning pixel density of about 401 pixels per inch and makes for impressive clarity.
Camera and Storage
The Huawei G8 is one of those new affordable phones, including the ZTE Blade D6, with solid cameras. On the rear is a 13-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash and autofocus.
The 5-megapixel sensor on the front should enable you take some nice selfies. The Huawei G8 phablet will be available in two storage variants of 16 GB and 32 GB. Onboard storage will be expandable by up to 64 GB using a microSD card.
Power and Performance
Huawei apparently wants its G8 to deliver superb performance by equipping it with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, four of whose cores are clocked at a speed of 1.5 GHz and the other four at 1.2 GHz.
The 16GB variant of the device will come with 2 GB of RAM and the 32GB flavour with RAM of 3GB capacity. An Adreno 405 GPU chews through graphics while Android 5.1 Lollipop with Huawei’s Emotion UI 3.1 skin powers the phablet.
Other Features
The Huawei G8 comes with a decent 3000mAh battery which should support at least full-day use on a charge. In terms of connectivity, the midrange smartphone supports 4G LTE for blazing-fast mobile browsing and downloading speeds.
Connectivity features also include high-speed USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. The Huawei G8 has dual-SIM functionality, which is pretty standard on phones from Chinese manufacturers.
