InFocus Kangaroo is a highly portable mobile computer designed to help you to be productive, even while on the go. Dubbed the world’s smallest Windows 10 personal portable PC, the Kangaroo can fit into your pocket and offers full Windows desktop experience.
It is priced to compete favourably well with PC-on-a-stick offerings such as Intel Compute Stick.
The Design
InFocus takes a different approach to portable PC design with its Kangaroo. The device looks so much like a smartphone. It has a dimension of 124 x 80.5 x 12.9 millimetres making one that you can easily take around without feeling quite uncomfortable, especially when you consider it weighs just about 200 grams. InFocus Kangaroo features a removable base unit.
Specs and Features
Driven by a quad-core Intel Atom x5-Z8500 (Cherrytrail) processor, InFocus Kangaroo is decked out to deliver the level of performance you would expect of a netbook or an entry-level laptop. It should handle web browsing, typing and other basic tasks smoothly, but nothing intensive.
The portable PC comes with 2 GB of DDR3 RAM and 32 GB of onboard storage, which users will be able to expand further by up to 128 GB using a microSD card.
The Kangaroo will boot the full 64-bit edition of the latest Windows 10 operating system. You just need to connect the necessary peripherals to use it as a desktop computer.
It supposedly has a fingerprint sensor that allows you to take advantage of the Windows Hello feature in Microsoft’s latest OS. For on-the-go usage, InFocus says the mobile computer allows the use of Windows 10 on your iPad.
One of the things that stand the InFocus Kangaroo out among offerings in the portable PC segment is that you need not have it plugged to a power source to use – it is battery-powered and can last up to four hours on a charge.
Also, unlike a PC-on-a-stick, the device features two USB ports (including one USB 3.0) and an HDMI port. Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11ac are available for wireless connectivity.
Pricing and availability
InFocus Kangaroo PC is not yet available in Nigeria. If and when available, the InFocus Kangaroo PC price in Nigeria is expected to start at around N30,000, depending on your location and the configuration of the laptop.
