The newly-unveiled Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is the third iteration in its maker’s Redmi Note series, offering more awesomeness than what the first two devices delivered – all at a very pocket-friendly price. It features an all-metal body, a large 1080p display, an octa-core processor and, impressively, a fingerprint sensor.

Design and Display
All-metal construction is interestingly becoming more common for affordable smartphones, especially those from Chinese manufacturers such as Xiaomi. The new Redmi Note 3 parades a chic, aluminium body that has a thickness of 8.65 millimetres.
The unibody phone has nicely curved edges and comes in gold, silver and grey colour variants. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 crams in a massive 5.5-inch display with Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels for a pixel density of 401 ppi, making for awesome clarity when gaming or watching movies.
The Cameras
On the camera front, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 looks ready to do the job with a combination of a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. The main shooter has dual-LED flash and phase detection autofocus for superior quality images.
It can be used to capture Full HD (1080) videos as well. The front-facing snapper promises to deliver some eye-catching selfies.
Hardware and Software
The same MediaTek Helio X10 processor seen on the Redmi Note 2 is retained for all the heavy lifting here as well. The 64-bit processor delivers speeds of up to 2 GHz. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 will be made available in two versions: a variant with 2GB RAM and 16GB onboard storage and a bit more-expensive model with 3GB and 32GB internal storage.
But there appears to be no microSD card slot for storage expansion, sadly. The phone will be powered by Xiaomi’s new MIUI 7 software, based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
Miscellaneous Specs
Interestingly, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 features a fingerprint sensor on its rear, making it the first device from its Chinese maker to come with this feature. Xiaomi says users will be able to unlock the phone in just 0.3 seconds using the fingerprint sensor.
The Redmi Note 3 is accompanied by a more powerful 4000mAh battery with fast charging support. It offers 4G LTE connectivity via its dual SIM slots.
