Xiaomi Mi 5 Specs & Price

Xiaomi Mi 5 is its Chinese maker’s latest 5-inch flagship smartphone, which succeeds the Mi 4 that was launched way back in 2014. As is commonly the case with Xiaomi devices, this one delivers awesome specifications that are not common at this price range. The phone, available in three storage versions, packs a Full HD IPS display, an octa-core Qualcomm processor, abundant RAM, and a fingerprint sensor, amongst others.

Design

Featuring a stunning design, the Xiaomi Mi 5 can stake a claim to being the most attractive device yet from Xiaomi. The svelte device is curvier for a more appealing appearance. In fact, the Chinese phone manufacturer says design is a reason for the long delay in the phone’s announcement – the wait looks justified.

The chassis is made of glass or ceramic, depending on model, complemented by a curvy metal frame. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is impressively lightweight at 129 grams for the glass variant and 139 grams for the ceramic variant.

Display and Camera

Xiaomi Mi 5 packs in a 5.15-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and a high pixel density of about 428 ppi. This is one brilliant display being fitted with 16 backlight LEDs, according to Xiaomi, compared to the 12-14 most other devices come with.

On the camera front, the Xiaomi Mi 5 packs an impressive combo of 16-megapixel rear camera and 4-megapixel front-facing camera.

The primary shooter uses a Sony sensor and features dual LED flash, sapphire crystal lens cover, phase detection autofocus, and optical image optimisation (OIS) for top-notch images. It can record breathtaking 4K videos at 30 frames per second.

Hardware and Software

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is driven by a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, but chip offering will differ between variants. The all-new, quad-core CPU will be clocked at 1.8 GHz on the 32GB version and 2.15 GHz on both the 64GB and 128GB versions.

On both the 32GB and 64GB versions, 3 GB of RAM will be provided while the highest-end 128GB variant comes with 4 GB of RAM. The Xiaomi Mi 5 boots Android 6.0 Marshmallow, overlaid with Xiaomi’s MIUI 7 skin.

The dual-SIM, 4G-enabled Xiaomi Mi 5 is equipped with a 3,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. It is the supposedly the first smartphone from its manufacturer with a physical Home button, which houses a fingerprint scanner.

Pricing and Availability

Xiaomi Mi 5 is not yet available in Nigeria. When available, you can buy it at leading online stores in the country. Xiaomi Mi 5 Price in Nigeria is expected to range from N85,000 to N110,000 depending on your location in Nigeria.
