Oppo R9 Plus Price & Specs

Oppo R9 Plus is an improved variant of the new Oppo R9 offering larger screen estate and more robust performance. The behemoth packs a massive Full HD display, more powerful rear camera, an octa-core Qualcomm processor and humongous battery, amongst other improvements.

Design and Display

This beast shares similar design as the regular Oppo R9. Oppo R9 Plus parades an all-metal unibody and, to a significant extent, look like a bigger iPhone.

The Oppo R9 Plus features slim bezels like its smaller brother, although these are slightly wider than the latter’s at 1.76 millimetres.

One of the reasons for the ‘Plus’ moniker is the fact that the device is fitted with a mammoth 6-inch AMOLED display, which offers a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.

Oppo R9 Plus provides ample screen estate for content viewing, but will deliver slightly less sharp images than the smaller variant.

Camera

The Oppo R9 Plus is also a potential selfie taker’s favourite, with its powerful 16-megapixel front-facing camera. The shooter boasts a 78.1-degree field of view and an f/2.0 aperture.

The main camera has been bumped to 16 megapixels, compared to the 13-megapixel sensor on the Oppo R9.

This is said to use the same Sony IMX298 sensor found on the Huawei Mate 8. It offers an f/2.0, 6-element lens, phase detection autofocus, and 4K video recording capability.

Hardware and Software

All the heavy lifting on the Oppo R9 Plus is seen to by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 chipset, featuring four Cortex-A72 cores running at 1.8 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores at 1.2 GHz.

The same abundant 4 GB of RAM is on offer. This behemoth will be offered in two storage versions: 64 GB and 128 GB.

If for some reason the abundant onboard storage doesn’t suffice for your needs, you will still be able to add up to 128 GB using a microSD card.

Somewhat disappointingly, the Oppo R9 Plus still boots a customised version of Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Other Features

The phablet comes with a high-capacity 4,120mAh battery with VOOC Flash Charge support for rapid charging. It offers dual SIM slots (one hybrid) and supports 4G LTE connectivity.

The Oppo R9 Plus comes with a faster Bluetooth 4.1 and Wi-Fi 802.11ac. There is also a fingerprint scanner below its display for extra security.

Oppo R9 Plus is not yet available in Nigeria. When available, you can buy it at leading online stores in the country. Oppo R9 Plus Price in Nigeria is expected to range from N120,000 to N150,000 depending on your location in Nigeria.
