Huawei Y5 II is a new smartphone in its maker’s Y range of budget-friendly smartphones. It is an upgrade on the Y5 smartphone released last year, coming with an improved display, more powerful rear camera and slightly larger battery. The device will be made available in 3G and 4G variants.
Build and Screen
The entry-level Huawei Y5 II features a body that appears to be made of plastic. It sports slight curves that boost its attractiveness.
The phone comes in 8.9mm thick and weighs 135 grams, which means it is both slimmer and lighter than the original Huawei Y5.
Huawei Y5 II sports a bigger 5-inch diagonal display with an improved HD resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. This touchscreen should produce sharp images.
Camera and Storage
The Huawei Y5 II has on the rear an improved 8-megapixel camera which will supposedly feature dual-LED flash. This is paired with a 2-megapixel front-facing snapper which is said to be accompanied by LED flash.
For storing your photos and other stuffs, you get 8 GB of onboard storage, which doesn’t exactly sound like a lot. It is a good thing that storage expansion with the aid of a microSD card is supported.
Performance and OS
Buyers will get a quad-core processor on the Huawei Y5 II, although options will differ between its variants.
The 3G variant will be equipped with a quad-core MediaTek MT6582 SoC clocked at 1.3 GHz, while the 4G version will use a similar-clock quad-core MediaTek MT6735P chipset.
Both of these models will come with 1 GB of RAM. The Huawei Y5 II still runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system overlaid with Huawei’s Emotion UI 3.1 interface.
Other Features
The phone will be equipped with a more powerful 2,200mAh battery, compared to the 2,000mAh unit that came with the original Y5. In addition to the 4G LTE connectivity support on one of its model, the Huawei Y5 II features MicroUSB, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
