The Design
The Huawei Mate 9 offers a metal unibody design. For a phone with a 5.9-inch display, the Huawei Mate 9 is quite compact. This is largely due to the ultra-thin bezel. In fact, it is actually smaller than the Mate 8.
You can buy the Huawei Mate 9 in Space Gray, Moonlight Silver, Champagne Gold, Mocha Brown, Ceramic White, Black, Obsidian Black. The fingerprint sensor is located on the back.
The Display & Cameras
Huawei Mate 9 has a 5.9-inch IPS display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. Above the screen is an 8 megapixels camera for taking selfies.
The Huawei Mate 9 features a dual-camera setup on the back. Like in the Mate 8, the dual camera is a result of partnership with Leica. It consists of a 12 megapixels colour sensor and a 20MP monochrome sensor. The camera offers Optical Image Stabilisation for more steady pictures and videos.
The Camera app offers a Pro mode that allow you adjust camera characteristics like exposure and ISO.
Hardware and Software
Huawei Mate 9 runs Android 7.0 (Nougat) on the Huawei Hisilicon Kirin 960 chipset. The SoC offers two quad-core processors clocked at 1.8GHz and 2.4GHz respectively. The chipset also boasts of the 8-core Mali-G71 MP8 GPU, which should boost graphics performance. You get 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB built-in storage.
The Huawei Mate 9 will sell in single-SIM and dual-SIM variants with a dedicated microSD slot for the single SIM variant. The SIM2 slot of the dual-SIM variant will also double as a microSD slot. It supports USB Type C, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, dual-band Wi-Fi, and LTE.
Huawei Mate 9 will support 4G LTE on all networks in Nigeria with download speed of up to 600Mbps.
