CoWorking Space opens in Enugu at Foresteps

Best Freelancers to help you Grow your Business

For the past one year or so I have been searching for a coworking space in Enugu without success. However, my luck changed last month when my Google search turned up a promising result. Two weeks on I am now working close to five hours per day from the Coworking space.

Foresteps may not be the first coworking space in Enugu, but it is the first that I was able to uncover in over one year of consistent search.

Foresteps offers all the usual services of a Coworking space. You get a desk with comfortable seats, Wi-Fi, and an air conditioned environment. The CoWorking space also offers stable power supply. Office equipment like printers, scanners, and photocopiers are also provided.

In case you need to have a meeting with clients, a meeting room is available for your convenience. The only thing missing right now is the sense of community that coworking spaces are known for as only a few people have signed up so far.

I am guessing it is either because Enugu people still do not get what a coworking space is or they have not heard about the most significant thing to have happened in Enugu for awhile. This post is aimed at addressing these two problems.

Foresteps at a price of 15,000 Naira for its monthly plan is the most affordable coworking space in Nigeria right now, cheaper that most coworking spaces outside Enugu. Foresteps also offer a one day plan for 1500 Naira and a one week plan for 5000 Naira.

What is a CoWorking Space

Simply put a coworking space is a shared office space. Instead of renting an office and paying for a year or two up-front as is usually the case in Nigeria, a coworking space enables you share the cost of running an office with other small businesses.

Most coworking spaces offer more flexible weekly or monthly renting plan enabling small businesses to focus more of their resources on their core business rather than on renting and maintaining an office.

Rather than sinking hundreds of thousand of Naira to rent an office space for an idea or business you are not sure will work, you can test out your idea in a coworking space and if it works, you can then move to your own office. This is why business incubation is one of the key roles played by co-working spaces.

Another key role that co-working spaces play is as a community for collaboration. Rather than working in isolation in your home, you can leverage the expertise of other entrepreneurs.

You may be a good web designer, but need help with graphics design or social media, co-working spaces create a community where you can find all the skill you need to build your project all in one place.

Because you are all part of a community, you can enjoy services of other community members at rates lower than the normal going rate. This way, you help out each other and hopefully become more successful.

Who needs a Coworking Space

A coworking space like Foresteps is more suitable for freelancers and independent contractors. Startups that are looking for a cost effective way of testing out their ideas will also find coworking spaces invaluable.

As a freelance professional or an independent contractor, you can do your work from your home. However, working from home can leave you isolated. In addition, our homes are filled with lots of distractions that makes it hard to focus on your work.

A coworking space like Foresteps solves this problem by creating a work environment that is free of distractions, increasing your productivity in the process.

I have been working from Foresteps coworking space in Enugu over the past two weeks and I have to say that it has been a productive experience. You can learn more about Foresteps at their website, Click Here.
