Design, Display and Camera
The Sony Xperia XZ Premium features a beautiful glass design. The phone is covered in glass all round, except for the top and bottom sides that are metallic. The glass cover is built on the tough Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which can survive a 1.6 metre free fall most of the time.
Sony Xperia XZ Premium offers a brilliant 5.5-inch display. The smartphone’s display comes from the same stock as Sony’s Bravia TV with TRILUMINOS built-in. However, this is not all that makes the display of the Sony Xperia XZ Premium great. The display offers 2160 x 3840 pixels resolution and supports 4K HDR.
Sony Xperia XZ Premium sports a 19 megapixels camera on the back. The camera features laser and predictive phase detection autofocus. The camera incorporates Motion Eye, a new technology that allows capture of the most subtle details with an outstanding 960 frames per second.
This means that videos shot at this frame rate can be played in super slow motion, at a rate four times slower than other smartphones. Sony Xperia XZ Premium sports a 13 megapixels front facing camera. It is also dust proof and waterproof.
The Sony Xperia XZ Premium has a fingerprint sensor located on the right side, the first side fingerprint sensor we have seen. The sensor is built into the power button.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium is powered by the high performance Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. The chipset sports two quad-core processors clocked at 2.45GHz and 1.9GHz respectively. The processor will run resource-intensive games and apps smoothly, but its most talked about feature is the integrated LTE modem capable of up to 1Gbps download speeds.
Sony Xperia XZ Premium runs on Android 7.1 (Nougat) with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. It offers a USB Type C port (USB 3.1), NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, and 4G LTE. Thanks to its processor, the Sony Xperia XZ Premium will offer up to 1024 Mbps (1Gbps) download speeds on 4G LTE.
In Nigeria, Sony Xperia XZ Premium will support LTE on all networks including Glo, MTN, Etisalat, NTel, Smile, and InterC. Buyers in Kenya and Ghana are also covered as far as LTE is concerned. The phone will support playing games on the Sony PS4.
Pricing and availability
Sony Xperia XZ Premium is not yet available in Nigeria, it is expected to begin its global launch in late Spring (i.e before the end of June).
