In the past few years, the mid-range smartphone category has flourished with a wide array of devices from different OEMs. Oppo is one of the major Chinese companies in this category with a number of smartphones like the Oppo A79 which is now succeeded by the Oppo A83. Design and Display

There is something obvious about the Oppo A83 design and that is, it is modern. It has slim bezels, 18:9 aspect ratio and a sleek build. Although, it is made of plastic, the Oppo A83 smartphone still looks a more premium with its matte finish. This is also makes it quite light, weighing just 143g which makes it less tedious to be handled for long.

Oppo A83 also features a slightly larger than average display with a not too high resolution. Besides, there are better display resolution for a smartphone with the price tag. However, the smartphone has a 5.7-inch screen with 1440 X 720 pixels and a pixel density of 282 ppi.

Battery and Camera

There is not so many smartphones with large battery capacity unless the ones that are specifically built for one. The Oppo A83 comes with a 3, 180mAh non removable Li-ion battery which ideally should last up to a day on full charge. Nonetheless, this is largely dependent on how intensive usage is from time to time.

For camera, the Oppo A83 smartphone is armed with a 13MP camera with flash on the rear panel and an 8MP front camera. This is common to most smartphones of the mid-range category. However, the smartphones features the AI beatification feature  present in Oppo F5.

Like most mid-range smartphones, the smartphone has a mid-range MediaTek SoC. That being said, the Oppo A83 features an Octa-core MediaTek Helio P23 chipset accompanied by a Mali-G71 GPU having two cores.

Also, you have 3GB internal memory alongside 32GB of built-in storage that you can expand up to 256GB with the use of a MicroSD card in a dedicated slot of its own. This is a nice addition because you no longer have to sacrifice your sim card for more space. There’s also an Android 7.1 Nougat pre-installed on the Oppo A83 with a possible Oreo update coming soon.
