Based in the heart of ShenZhen City in China, original equipment manufacturer, Chuwi is preparing to update its Hi9 line of tablet PC with a new member, the Chuwi Hi9 Plus.
Being a household name in the affordable tech product and gadgets scene, Chuwi boasts of tablets, laptops, and accessories that ship with unbelievable high-end features and specs at the incredibly low prices they sell for. You can check out some of the brand’s laptop notebooks and tablets.
Segueing to the crux of this article: the Chuwi Hi9 Plus is incoming!!
The Chuwi Hi9 Plus will be Chuwi’s latest flagship and will be the successor to other tablets in the Hi9 series — Chuwi Hi9 (released in December 2017), Chuwi Hi9 Air and Chuwi Hi9 Pro (released in Q1 and Q3 2018 respectively).
The soon-to-be-launched Chuwi Hi9 Plus is expected —to some extent— to be modeled after the Chuwi Hi9 Pro which launched with stunning display with 2K resolution, ultra-fast Helio X20 SoC that clocks up to 2.3GHz, high-performing GPU for fluent gaming, and long-lasting 5,000mAh battery — all for $139.99!
Imagine purchasing a tablet with such calibre of high-end specs under $150. Now imagine what the upcoming Chuwi Hi9 Plus will bring onboard.
To even have a better imagination of what the Chuwi Hi9 Plus will launch with, rumour has it that Chuwi plans to release the Hi9 Plus as a competitor to one of Huawei‘s latest flagship tablet, the Huawei Mediapad M5. GizmoChina even reports that Chuwi’s Chief Executive Officer specifically stated that the Hi9 Plus is comong solely to rival Huawei” Mediapad M5.
“The purpose of this tablet (Chuwi Hi9 Plus) launch is to compete with HUAWEI MediaPad M5 Pro” said Chuwi’s CEO.
For reference purposes, the Mediapad M5 was launched by Huawei with 4GB of RAM, 13MP rear camera, 8MP front-facing camera, 8.4-inch display with 2K resolution, Huawei’s native Kirin 960 octa-core chipset, and 5,100mAh battery. The entire aforementioned specs are trumps what the Hi9 Pro offered and this helps gives a reasonable insight to what Chuwi has planned with Hi9 Plus.
The only guaranteed and known specs of the Chuwi Hi9 Plus, however, are its 266.2 x 177 x 8.1mm dimension and 500 grams weight. This tells that the Hi9 Plus will most likely come with a 10-inch display and a gigantic battery.
On the other hand, the Chuwi Hi9 Plus is also expected to take after the ‘Pro’ edition of the Huawei Mediapad M5 by having a attachable/detachable magnetic keyboard that will make the tablet double as a mobile laptop/workstation. In addition, like the Mediapad M5’s M-Pen, Chuwi ‘might’ launch with a stylus pen.
At the moment, though, there are no information regarding processor and other internal configuration details of the Chuwi Hi9 Plus but it would be exciting to see Chuwi switch from Mediatek to Qualcomm chipset. But then again, such move might lead to an increase in the price of the device; defying Chuwi’s long-standing tradition for affordability.
About price, the Huawei Mediapad M5 Pro has a retail price of $449 and what would make the Chuwi Hi9 Plus a worthy rival? A price half that of the M5 Pro. Or at worst, a $300 price tag. The Chuwi Hi9 Plus is scheduled for a September 2018 release but till then, we promise to update you with whatever new information about the tablet on our news platform.
