Design and Display

Shifting totally away from what we usually see from premium smartphones like all glass build and slim bezel screen, notch or as it previously did pop-up camera. The Vivo Nex Dual Display Edition joins the likes of ZTE Nubia X, as it has that insane screen to body ratio on the primary end and a secondary display. However, on the back of the phone is another smaller display which is like a mirror screen that makes taking selfies with the rear camera possible. All in the bid to avoid the notch, pop-camera or on-display camera like you have on the Samsung Galaxy A8s.

Unlike the front display that goes edge to edge, the display on the back is smaller and joined by bezel at the top and bottom. At the top of the screen on the back is a dual camera, IR illuminator for face unlock, flash for taking pictures from the front and another two on the lunar ring for taking selfies. The bottom bezels are not nearly as thick as the one at the top and bears ‘Nex’ written it. Apparently there are two.power buttons for each of the screen, an audio jack on top and the SIM tray, speaker and USB Type-C port at the bottom.

It should be duly noted that both the screen at the front as well as the back is AMOLED with an FHD+ & FHD resolution respectively. The 6.39-inch display covers the.entire surface sporting a 2340 x 1080 pixels while the 5.49-inch screen at the back has a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. It also seems the lunar ring goes under the rear display which is said to be aesthetic anyway.

Battery and Camera

For a smartphone with dual display, the Vivo Nex Dual Display Edition comes down a bit from what you have on the early ‘Nex’ device. The smartphone is supplied with a 3, 500mAh battery which is not going to be enough if you’ll be keeping both display on. But then again it has a super fast charge system in place 22.5W USB Type-C charger.

You know premium smartphones is the best when it comes to photography and in this case also comes with a trio of camera. There is a 12MP main camera with EIS and 4-axis gyro OIS, PDAF, live editing and it is joined by a 2MP sensor and a TOF (Time of flight) camera for depth sensing. This is the set of cameras you’ll be using as you toggle between the selfie and rear shooting.
