Design and Display
Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer sports a transparent covering that makes you feel like you’re looking at the phone’s innards. However, it’s a faux material that’s only designed to give you that idea. That’s where the significant upgrade is in the smartphone’s design. Notably, no other iteration is available other than this Faux Transparent Black.
Swiftly to the display, the 6.39-inch Super AMOLED panel produced by Samsung still spearheads the department. A sleek resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels dictates the sharpness of texts and inputs on the smartphone. Then, there’s the Corning Gorilla Glass 6 that makes the display impervious to cracks.
Battery and Camera
Nothing’s changed in the battery segment too; you have a 3,300mAh non-removable battery that supplies enough power to get you through most of the day’s activities.
That’s not all; the battery doesn’t take time to charge owing to Quick Charge 4+. The back glass build entertains the wireless charging module of the smartphone. But you’ll have to purchase a wireless charging mat separately.
Well, there’s a little twist to the camera configuration which is dependent on the RAM model purchased. Three cameras are present – 48MP standard, 16MP ultra-wide and 12MP telephoto. The 48MP sensor owns an f/1.5 aperture in the larger RAM variant while the lesser RAM variant has an f/1.8 aperture. A 20MP AI front-facing camera gives joy to the selfie aficionados.
Hardware and Software
Unsurprisingly, Snapdragon 855 SoC sorts out operations from the heart of the phone. It is either paired with 8GB RAM or 12GB RAM which determines the aperture of the cameras as explained earlier.
Twice the size of Mi 9’s storage is what the Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer presents – 256GB. Hence, there’s no need to worry about the memory card slot in absentia. Finally, the mobile phone is equipped with the Android 9.0 Pie topped with MIUI 10 skin.
