When talking about the evolution of smartphone cameras to the point of sliding mechanisms, Vivo can’t be ousted from the history book. Recently, they’ve unveiled another smartphone with sliding mechanism called the Vivo S1. As such, the device is blessed with a plethora of display goodness given the absence of onscreen camera and the gigantic touchscreen. There’s also the attractiveness of the triple cameras at the phone’s back.

Design and Display

Vivo S1 is clothed in an aluminium alloy body that feels premium in the hands. It plays a part in the hugeness of the phone (189.5g) but it takes nothing off the phone’s coolness. You’ll still feel the sleekness due to the 8.5mm thickness. Only two variations are available with regards to colouration, and they are Blue and Pink.

Taking the bull by its horns, Vivo S1 sports a large 6.53-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. The screen’s fineness is determined by 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution and 395ppi pixel density. An aspect ratio of 19.5:9 aspect ratio ensures that the screen’s estate is substantial.

Battery and Camera

The smartphone’s duration relies heavily on the 3,940mAh non-removable battery. Lots of movies and internet surfing can be done on the device without regular trips to the charging outlet. What’s more, the phone charges relatively fast as a result of Fast Charge 18W tech.

Moving on, all the three rear cameras are aligned at the top close to the fingerprint sensor. The first of the pack is a 12MP standard camera with f/1.8 aperture. Shooters following it are the 8MP wide sensor and 5MP depth sensor. A LED flash is also in the mix to add brightness in low light. When selfies are to be taken in the Camera app, a 25MP shooter pops up smoothly.

Hardware and Software

Features like Adaptive battery and Adaptive display are found on this device thanks to Android 9.0 Pie on board. It’s not the pure Android OS because the Funtouch 9 skin is added. MediaTek Helio P70 handles all forms of operations on the device.

One of its components, Mali-G72 MP3, sorts out the graphics work. In the memory compartment, a 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage are available. It’s worthy of note that the storage can be expanded to 256GB using a MicroSD card.

Vivo S1 Pricing and Availability

The smartphone sells for about 108, 000 Naira depending on the deal and your location.
