Design and Display
Perusing the design of the Oppo Reno 5k reveals a reminisced design, with the standard Reno 5 as its source. Oppo basically didn’t really make any effort here, you should probably strike out your hopes if you were probably hoping to get a slightly different design.
Oppo is offering the same chassis design, with different colour variants, which is pretty much the only way you would probably be able to tell the difference between both smartphones by just perusing the chassis.
The colour options we have here include Moonlight Black, Starry Dream, Blue Breeze, while on the standard Reno 5 we have Aurora Blue, Moonlight Black, Starry Dream.
On the build, we have a combo of aluminum on the frame, gorilla glass up front, and glass on the back, which is pretty much much the same as its sibling.
Perusing the chassis to learn about its placements, we find a 6.43 inch OLED display with a punch-hole camera. This display has a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a density of 409 PPI, and a 90Hz refresh rate, which smoothings out transitions.
On the rear, we have a square camera module bear four cameras and an LED flash. We also have the Oppo branding, which indicates it’s an Oppo smartphone.
The Cameras
The Cameras are on the Oppo Reno 5k are an exact replica of the ones on the standard Reno 5, as hinted in the introductory paragraph.
On the rear, we have a quad setup that features a 64MP primary camera with an aperture of f/1.7, an 8MP ultrawide camera with an aperture of f/2.2, a 2MP macro camera with an aperture of f/2.4, and a 2MP depth camera with an aperture of f/2.4. The video record on this camera is capped at 4k @ 30fps.
Moving upfront we have a single 32MP camera with an aperture of f/2.4. This camera is capable of recording videos up to 1080p @ 30fps.
Hardware and Software
On the performance side, the Oppo Reno 5k runs on an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G 5G processor as opposed to the slightly more premium Snapdragon 765G processor on the more premium Reno 5k.
The other performance facilitators include an Adreno 619 GPU, 8GB or 12GB RAM options, storage options of 128GB or 256GB, and a 43000mAh non-removable 43000mAh Li-Po battery. Enthusiats will also have the luxury of a 65W charging mechanism facilitated by SuperVOOC 2.0.
On the software side, we have got the Colour OS 11.1 running on the Andriod 11 operating system.
Connectivity
The Oppo Reno 5k features a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, low-energy Bluetooth 5.1, Dual-band WiFi.
Internet connectivity on here is capped at 5G, which means enthusiasts will be able to utilize 5G connectivity for downloads, streaming, and uploads.

The price of the Oppo Reno 5 5G starts at around $415 for the base 8GB / 128GB varaint, which translates to 158,115 in Naira, 45,484 KSH in Kenya and 2,383 GHS in Ghana.
Enthusiasts who desire the top of the line 12GB / 256GB varaint, will have to shell out about $460.
The Oppo Reno 5k was announced on the 25th of January 2021 and is expected to go on sale on the 5th of March 2021.
