Design
Acer Aspire 5 is a thin laptop with slim, lightweight and stylish design. This compact laptop comes with an elegant yet durable all-metal chassis which measures a dimension of around 14.3 x 9.4 x 0.71 inches and weighs around 4.19 pounds for the 15.6-inch A515 models.
The 14-inch A514 models are more compact measuring around 12.9 x 8.8 x 0.71 inches and weighing around 3.7 pounds. The biggest in the series is the 17-inch A517 models that measures around 15.9 x 10.4 x 0.78 inches and weighs around 5.73 pounds.
The lid has a sleek finishing with polished Acer logo on the back and when opened there are thin bezels around the screen, although, the bottom bezel is slightly thicker than the sides and top bezel which host the 720p webcam.
There is also a thin, wide hinge with “Acer” perfectly inscribed on it, thus giving it a sophisticated look and feel.
At the base is a full backlit Chiclet-style keyboard which sits above the touchpad with curved rounded corners, thus, adding to the sleek feeling of the Aspire 5.
