The Honor 50 Pro is a slightly more premium sibling to the standard Honor 50. It features a bigger and richer display, a more capable selfie camera system, reduced RAM and storage variants, and a faster-charging speed thanks to its support for 100W fast charging. However, the other specs and features of the Honor 50 Pro are the same as seen on its less premium sibling.

Honor 50 Pro

Design and Display

The difference between the Honor 50 Pro’s design and that of its less premium sibling is very minute.

As a matter of fact, the differentiating fact is actually hinged on the display. Onboard here, we have a bigger 6.72-inch display with a dual camera cut, unlike the regular Honor 50 that bears a smaller 6.57-inch display, with a punch-hole camera.

More on the display, we have a resolution of 1236 x 2676 Pixels and a density of approximately 439 PPI, in lieu of the 1080 x 2340 resolution and approximate 392 PPI on its regular. There is also a 120Hz refresh rate that is seen on the display on both smartphones.

Moving on to the rear panel, we have pretty much the same design. we have the gradient style, even the colour options are the same. Here we have Frost Crystal, Amber Red, Emerald Green, and Midnight Black.

The conspicuous camera module in two circles is also present, alongside the OEM branding, which indicates it’s a Honor smartphone.

The Cameras

The big news on the  Honor 50’s camera system, is in its front camera. Here we have a dual-front camera system, as opposed to the single-camera system on its regular sibling. This dua-setup comprises of a 32MP primary camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and a 12MP ultrawide camera with an aperture of f/2.4 and a 100˚ field of view.

On the rear, we have the same quad-camera setup which comprises a 108MP primary camera with an aperture of f/1.9, a 2MP depth camera, and a 2MP macro camera, both with an aperture of f/2.4. Lastly, we have an 8MP ultrawide camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and a 120˚ field of view.

Hardware and Software

Despite being a pro Android smartphone, the offerings of the Honor 50 Pro, aren’t far-fetched from what is being offered on the Regular Honor 50. Both smartphones fall in the same category.

Both smartphones may fall in the same category with many common features, but they aren’t altogether the same. Here we have just 8GB RAM / 256GB storage variant, which means we won’t get the 128GB variant on its less premium sibling. Charging also moved from 66W to 100W here.

What’s more, we have a slightly smaller 4000 mAh battery as opposed to 4300mAh on the less premium Honor 50, which is sort of funny, owing to the fact that we have faster-charging speed on a smaller battery, an awkward pair. An increase in charging speed should ideally be paired with a higher battery capacity.

On the software side, we have the Magic UI 4.2 user interface running on the Android 11 operating system. Please note that Google play services are only available in certain market regions.
