The Gionee S12 Lite is a less premium sibling to the standard Gionee S12. It can be described as a provision for enthusiasts in the market for a cheaper smartphone. To achieve this lower price tag, there we some cuts down, which touched on the RAM, storage, cameras, more on that later in the article.

Design and Display

Gazing on the Gionee S12 Lite can be likened to gazing on its more premium sibling, the standard S12, as both smartphones are the same chassis design. However, enthusiasts would be able to differentiate them, if they put their colour options into consideration.

The colour options we have here include Blue, Green, and Grey, while we have just Black and Blue on the regular S12.

Taking cognizance of the chassis build, reveals we have glass upfront, plastic on the frame, and plastic on the rear, which is pretty much what you would expect from a low-budget device in this category.

Just like the regular S12, the placement on the rear of the Lite includes a vertical array of three cameras, an LED flash, a capacitive fingerprint sensor, and the Gionee branding, which indicates it’s a Gionee smartphone.

Upfront, we have a 6.52-inch IPS LCD with a drop notch bearing a front camera. This display highlights a resolution of 720 x 1600 and a density of approximately 269 PPI.

The Cameras

On the camera side, we have got a drop in pixels on both the front and rear panels. This shouldn’t be coming as a surprise, as it can be seen as a conscious effort from Gionee to offer a lower price tag.

On the rear, we have a 13MP primary camera, a 5MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP depth camera. The video recording capability of this rear camera setup is capped at 1080p @ 30fps.

Hardware and Software

On the performance side of the Gionee S12 Lite, we have the MediaTek Helio A25 processor and the PowerVR GE8320 GPU which are the same as on the Regular S12.

Also on the performance side, is a 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, as opposed to the 4GB / 64GB combo on its more premium sibling. We also have a non-removable 4000mAh Li-Po battery.

On the software side, the Gionee S12 Lite runs its interface on top of the Android 10 operating system.
