Design and Display

The first thing I usually take note of when it comes to the design of successors is how different they are from their predecessors. The Infinix Zero x actually has a pass mark in this segment. Its design can be distinguished from zero 8.

Up next will try to examine if it’s a better-looking design. Well, for the most part, it may vary according to preference. However, I personally love the design Infinix is offered this year. In my eyes, it’s way better than what was offered on the former.

One of the key design features I love is the flat sides, which sort of reminds me of the iPhone 12. Due to the fact that it’s a device that also bears flat sides.

Taking a trip to the rear reveals one of the aesthetically pleasing rear covering designs to have come out of Infinix stables. This fact actually holds sway for enthusiasts that will opt for the Nebula black colour option. On which you will find a gradient black design and white dots mimicking the galaxy.

Also on the rear, is an elongated square camera module with three cameras and an LED flash. You will also find the Infinix branding, which indicates it’s an Infinix smartphone.

Moving upfront reveals a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a punch-hole camera placed in the top-middle position, as opposed to the dual-camera cut-out sitted on the top right corner of the Zero 8.

Making a comparison of display sizes reveals the Zero 8 has a bigger display at 6.85, however the fact that the Zero X display is based on an AMOLED panel as opposed to the IPS TFT panel on the former and also the fact that it features a 120Hz refresh rate, in place of 90Hz gives it an edge.

The Cameras

Moving on to optics, the Infinix Zero X may not be an overall champion, when it is compared to the Zero 8, but it does an 8MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, a camera that wasn’t on the rear setup of the former.

The other cameras on the rear include an 8MP ultrawide camera with an aperture of f/3.4 and a 120˚ field of view. Lastly, we have a 64MP primary camera with an aperture of f/1.9. Video recording here is capped at 4k @ 60fps.

On the selfie side, we have a single 16MP as opposed to the dual-camera (48MP + 8MP) seen on the Zero 8. This 16MP camera has the ability to shoot videos up to 1080p @ 30fps.

Hardware and Software

On the performance side, the Infinix Zero X takes hold of the MediaTek Helio G95 processor, which can be counted as an upgrade over the Helio G90T processor on its predecessor.

What’s more, we have the Mali-G76 MC4 GPU, 8GB RAM, 128GB built-in storage, and a non-removable 4500mAh which are the same as what was offered on the Zero 8. However, the Zero X features 45W fast charging, in place of the 33W fast charging mechanism on its predecessor.

On the software side, the Infinix Zero X runs the XOS 7.6 user interface on top of the Android 11 operating system.
