How to Clean Your RC Truck

Best Freelancers to help you Grow your Business

Did you know the first RC car was created in 1966 by an Italian electronics company called Elettronica Giocattoli? Since then, remote-controlled cars have provided children and adults with hours of entertainment.

After a day of RC car fun, however, it can be important to know how to clean the toy and do so in a way that does not damage it.

Read on to learn some techniques to clean an RC truck or car.

RC Truck Cleaning Tools

Before you begin the cleaning process, you want to be sure you have the right tools on hand. Cleaning an RC car or truck requires that you have tools to reach smaller spaces. Cotton swabs and even a toothbrush can be a great choice for those crevices and for really caked-on dirt.

You will need paper towels to wipe the car dry as well as a soft washcloth for the actual cleaning. If you do not want to get on the floor or if you have types of RC trucks that are a bit larger, you can use a sawhorse or a workbench.

RC Car Maintenance: The Cleaning Process

The first thing you want to do is to remove the batteries and all electrical power sources. You can then begin to remove loose dirt and debris.

You can use air for this. If the car is dusty and does not have mud or other materials caked-on, you can use compressed air like you would use for cleaning a computer. If you do not want to keep buying cans of compressed air, you can purchase a compressor.

When cleaning fast RC trucks, you want to then remove the tires. You can clean them with a toothbrush and a low-pressure cleaner, especially if there are signs of mud. Remember to cover the tires’ breathing holes so they do not absorb water.

While you have the tires off, remove dirt and debris from the suspension and steering.

You can then spray the truck with a general cleaner if it is waterproof. Be sure not to allow water into the area where the electronics of the RC truck are. You want to avoid soaking the entire car so you do not put it at risk.

Use the toothbrush to clean the bearings and chassis. If your RC truck is not waterproof, you want to use denatured alcohol or alcohol wipes for the cleaning.

Once the truck is clean, you need to let it dry in the sun or use low-pressure air to get the job done. If these options are not possible, you can use a soft washcloth.

Keep Your RC Truck Looking Its Best

By knowing how to clean your RC truck or car, you can have it looking and functioning at its best. It is always best to do this right after using the truck or car, while dirt or mud is fresh so that it is easier to remove. Providing a simple cleaning can ensure you will have the vehicle for years to come.
