Design and Display
Infinix Note 12i features a plastic body with the front covered in glass. It less color options compared to the standard model available in only Force Black and Snowfall. This one less color than the standard model.
The major tradeoff for the Infinix Note 12i is in the display. Though it offers a bigger 6.82-inch display, the screen is now downgraded from AMOLED to IPS and the resolution also downgraded from 1080 x 2400 pixels to 720 x 1650 pixels.
These two downgrades means the display may not be as good as the one on the Note 12 which also boasts of 100% DCP-P3 colour gamut, 100000:1 contrast, and up to 1000 nits brightness.
That said, the 12i’s display supporting 90Hz refresh rate should offer a decent quality for watching movies, browsing the web, and playing games.
The Cameras
There does not seem to be any compromise for the rear camera as the Infinix Note 12i shares the same rear camera as the standard edition. You get the same triple camera setup with a 50 megapixels wide angle main camera with a large 1/2.8 image sensor, f/1.6 aperture, and phase detection autofocus, a 2 megapixels depth camera with f/2.4 aperture, and a QVGA AI camera.
The rear camera should deliver professional looking photos for its price. It also supports 1440p Video recording and has a quad-LED flash.
While, there was no tradeoff in the rear camera, the front camera was downgraded from a 16 megapixels camera to an 8 megapixels camera. It also offers dual-LED flash full HD video recording.
Hardware and Software
Infinix Note 12i is powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 processor. The processor is built on a dual-cluster architecture with a dual-core Cortex-A75 clocked at 2.0GHz and a hexa-core Cortex-A55 also clocked at 1.8GHz. This is the same chipset in the Tecno Camon 19 and the Tecno Spark 9 Pro.
You get 4GB RAM with 128GB built-in storage. The smartphone offers a dedicated microSD slot for memory cards.
One edge that the Infinix Note 12i have over the Note 12 is that unlike the standard model that launched with Android 11, this Infinix Phone is launching with Android 12 with XOS 10.6.
A 5000 mAh Li-Po battery is provided for the Infinix Note phone. This should provide a decent battery life. Charging should also be fast thanks to the built-in 33W fast charging capacity.
