Samsung Galaxy A73 5G is a direct successor to the Galaxy A72. It offers the same design as its predecessor with some incremental improvements in software and hardware. The most notable improvements are in the camera and a newer and more efficient CPU. Samsung Galaxy A73 5G features a brilliant Super AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor, a 108MP quad rear camera, and 5000 mAh battery.

The Galaxy A73 is currently at the top of the line of the 2022 ASeries offerings from Samsung. It is ahead of the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, the Galaxy A33 5G, the Galaxy A23, the Galaxy A13, and the Galaxy A13 5G.

Design and Display

The Samsung Galaxy A73 5G design is reminiscent of the A72, though it is now almost 1mm thinner at 7.6mm thick. This really makes the Samsung phone a stunner. You get an all plastic body with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 covering in front. The camera placement is also similar to that of its predecessor.

Three of the cameras are aligned vertically in one column and the fourth camera and the LED flash aligned vertically on another column. The entire setup sits on a bump. The front camera is also placed similarly on an infinity-O cutout. Like last year, IP67 rating is baked in for dust and water resistance. You can buy the smartphone in Mint, Gray, and White.

Samsung Galaxy A73 5G has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus display with 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio,  and support for up to 800 nits brightness. The support for 120Hz refresh rate means you can enjoy fast paced action movies or playing games without experiencing annoying blurs. You also get an under display fingerprint sensor.

The Cameras

Cameras is one area that the Samsung Galaxy A73 5G really outdid its predecessor, boosting the main camera from 64MP to an impressive 108MP sensor. The 108 megapixels wide-angle primary camera features an f/1.8 aperture, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).

The main camera is supported by a 12 megapixels ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture, a 5 megapixels macro camera an f2.4 aperture, and a 5 megapixels depth camera with an f/2.4 aperture.

In the front, a 32 megapixels wide-angle camera with an aperture of f/2.2 for taking selfies i provided. Both cameras can handle 4K UHD video recording. The rear camera support 240 fps recording at HD for Slow Motion.

Hardware and Software

Samsung Galaxy A73 5G is powered by a Qualcomm SM7325 Snapdragon 778G 5G (6 nm) Octa-core chipset. This is an efficient chipset that should make things run smoothly.

The CPU is built on a dual-cluster architecture consisting of two Kryo 670 quad-core processors clocked at 2.4GHz and 1.8GHz respectively with a Adreno 642L GPU for graphics.

It offers 128GB built-in storage with 6GB or 8GB RAM and 256GB storage with 8GB RAM. You also get RAM Plus which depending on your model adds 6GB or 8GB virtual RAM to your physical RAM for a smoother experience. RAM Plus is similar to Extended RAM in the Infinix Note 12 VIP and Note 12 G96 and Memory Fusion in the Tecno Spark 8C and Pova 5G.

Combine the powerful and efficient processor, the large RAM capacity, and the 120Hz refresh rate and the Galaxy A73 looks like a decent gaming phone. The built-in storage can be extended via a hybrid slot that supports up to 1TB memory card. A 5000 mAh battery is built-in.

On the software side, the Galaxy A73 runs on Android 12 with One UI 4.1. Knox is built into the device to offer protection against data theft and malware.
