Tecno Pova 5 was officially announced on June 29, 2023. It is a a budget-friendly smartphone with a large 6.78-inch FHD+ display, a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. The main camera is a 50MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, and the front-facing camera is an 8MP sensor. Tecno Pova 5 also has a 6000mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging.

Design

The Tecno Pova 5 is a well-built phone with a good design. It has plastic sturdy body with a textured back panel that makes it easy to grip. The phone is also relatively lightweight, making it comfortable to hold for long periods of time. It measures 173.1 x 78.2 x 9.4 mm and weighs 204 grams.

The front of the Pova 5 is dominated by the large 6.78-inch FHD+ display. The display has a hole-punch cutout in the top-left corner for the front-facing camera. The bezels around the display are relatively thin.

Furthermore, the display features an IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels, the display offers a pixel density of around 396 pixels per inch (ppi). It also offers a screen-to-body ratio of approximately 84.5%.

The Tecno Pova 5 display has a high refresh rate of 120Hz, which provides smoother scrolling and enhanced visual fluidity.  Additionally, the display is capable of reaching a brightness level of 580 nits (typ), ensuring good visibility even under bright lighting conditions.

On the rear, there is a unique design with a camera cut-out on the top left side housing the two camera and a LED flash.

The right side of the Tecno phone houses the power button and the volume rocker. The left side is blank. The top of the Pova phone has a microphone and a secondary microphone. At the bottom of the phone is a USB-C port, a speaker, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Camera

Under the hood, the device is powered by the Mediatek MT8781 Helio G99 chipset, built on a 6nm manufacturing process. A processor it shares with models like the Samsung Galaxy A24 4G, the Infinix Zero 20, the Ulefone Power Armor 19, the Infinix Note 30, the Xiaomi Poco M5, and Oppo Reno 8T. The processor consists of an octa-core configuration, with two high-performance Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and six power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz.

It also features the Mali-G52 MC2 GPU, which handles the graphical tasks and ensures smooth visuals during gaming and multimedia experiences. The handset delivers a lag-free user experience overall with gaming. This is a decent gaming phone if you are looking for budget friendly options.

Furthermore, the Tecno Pova 5 offers two storage variants. One variant comes with 128GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM, while the other variant provides 256GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM.

It also runs on the Android 13 operating system, customized with Tecno’s own user interface called HIOS 13. The Tecno Pova 5 is powered via a mammoth 5,000 mAh battery. It also supports 45W wired fast charging and can reach a full charge of 100% in approximately 60 minutes, as advertised by Xiaomi.
