Design
Honor 90 boasts a luxurious exterior, with a frosted texture panel and a reflective finish. The rear panel is made out of plastic despite looking like glass, and it feels quite sturdy. While the overall design may not be premium, the textured area makes it easier to hold with one hand. The phone’s body is curved on almost every side with no sharp edges, which gives it the perfect premium feel.
This smartphone measures 161.9 x 74.1 x 7.8mm, and it weighs a mere 183 grams, especially with the inclusion of a hefty 5,000 mAh battery. The Honor 90 is available in four colors: Midnight Black, Emerald Green, Diamond Silver, and Peacock Blue, providing users with some choice in personalization.
On the rear, the android phone has a triple-camera system at the left side inside the two circular module coupled with flash Led accompany it. The front has a glass screen which measures 90.8% screen-to-body ratio. At the top of the screen, there is a punch hole cutout for the 50 MP front-facing camera. The front also has an almost bezel-free display.
The bottom of the handset features the SIM tray, microphone pinhole, Type-C charging port, and a speaker grille. On the right edge sits the power button and the volume rocker. While at the top, you have another pinhole mic.
Display
The Honor 90 features a large 6.7-inch curved AMOLED panel that showcases content beautifully. It has a high resolution of 1200 x 2664 pixels, which Honor refers to as 1.5K, results in an exceptional pixel density of approximately 435 ppi. This level of sharpness contributes to a visually stunning experience.
The device’s display is capable of a peak brightness of 1600 nits, as claimed by Honor. In practical usage, this brightness level ensures comfortable outdoor visibility even in bright sunlight. It has an under-display fingerprint scanner for security.
Additionally, the Honor 90’s display supports a 120Hz refresh rate, enhancing the smoothness of animations and interactions on the screen. This higher refresh rate leads to improved visual fluidity and responsiveness, making the user experience more enjoyable.
Furthermore, the display’s color performance is noteworthy, earning it a DXOMARK GOLD certification. The panel is 10-bit, enabling it to reproduce around 1.07 billion colors, a critical factor in reducing color banding in gradients. Moreover, the support for HDR 10+ enhances the device’s ability to render vibrant and dynamic visuals.
Moreover, Honor emphasizes eye comfort by incorporating several features. The display supports 3840 Hz PWM dimming, which minimizes flicker and eye fatigue. Additionally, the phone offers automatic dimming with 400-grade adjustment, along with hardware-level blue light filtering. These features collectively contribute to a more comfortable viewing experience.
Camera
Honor 90 has a triple camera setup, including a massive 200MP main sensor, 12MP ultra-wide and 12MP depth sensor on the rear and a 50MP front facing camera which is an impressive feat for a smartphone in this segment.
The main camera captures photos through pixel binning, resulting in default images with a resolution of just over 12MP. This approach combines data from multiple pixels to enhance details, dynamic range, and overall image quality.
The sensor features 0.56µm individual pixels and sits behind an f/1.9 lens. It also has the ability to zoom in and re-crop without significant loss of quality. While the main camera lacks optical image stabilization (OIS), electronic image stabilization (EIS) is available for video capture.
The two supporting sensor includes a 12MP ultrawide lens with an f/2.2 aperture and a 112-degree field of view and another 12MP depth camera. This versatile lens proves handy for capturing detailed shots. The ultrawide shots maintain good color accuracy and detail, making it a valuable addition to the camera setup.
On the front, the Honor 90 boasts a capable 50MP selfie camera with an f/2.4 aperture. While lacking autofocus, this front-facing sensor captures sharp and detailed self-portraits, making it a suitable option for selfie enthusiasts. Additionally, the front camera supports 4K video recording at 30 FPS and includes electronic image stabilization (EIS) for smoother video footage.
The Honor 90’s camera software offers various shooting modes and features, including Night Vision, Portrait, Live Filters, Panorama, Pro Mode (with Long Exposure), Digital Zoom (up to 4x), Auto Smile Capture, Google Lens integration, Watermark, and Barcode scanner.
Hardware and Software
Under the hood, the Honor 90 boasts the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition chipset. This modern chipset is manufactured using a 4nm process and features an efficient CPU configuration.
