The Motorola Moto E14 is a budget-oriented smartphone that offers more than its price. It is an upgrade to last year’s Moto E13, offering a few upgraded features including a single 13-megapixel main sensor and a 5-megapixel selfie camera, a 90Hz display, a 5000mAh battery with 15W charge, and Android 14 (Go Edition). Although, the Moto E14 retains the Unisoc T606 chipset of last year, it backs it up with a 64GB UFS 2.2 internal storage.

Design and Display
The Motorola Moto E14 can easily be mistaken for last year’s Moto 13 design. It features a similar sleek and minimalist design with a glass front, plastic frame, and plastic back, making it lightweight and comfortable to hold. The affordable phone has rounded edges and a matte finish on the back, which provides a good grip and reduces fingerprints. It has a slim profile which measures 163.5 x 74.5 x 8 mm and weighs 178.8 g.
The front of the device is dominated by a 6.5-inch display with moderately slim bezels and a slightly thicker chin, which is common in budget-friendly models. Likewise, the screen covers 84.9% of the front, providing an immersive experience. The top of the screen houses a small, teardrop notch for the front-facing camera, maintaining a clean, unobtrusive appearance.
This 6.56-inch IPS LCD display has a 90Hz refresh rate, making it smooth and vibrant. It also comes with a resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels and a pixel density of approximately 269 ppi, hence, the display provides clear and crisp images, though not as sharp as higher-end models. Meanwhile, the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, adding durability against scratches.
Additionally, the back of the Motorola Moto E14 features a clean and straightforward design. It has a matte finish that not only looks elegant but also helps in reducing fingerprints and smudges. The rear panel also has a camera module in the top-left corner, which houses the single camera and the ring LED flash. The placement is ergonomic, preventing any interference while holding the phone.
Camera
Compared to last year’s Moto E13, there have been no significant improvements in the camera department of the Motorola Moto E14. It still retain the same 13MP main camera and 5MP front camera. The Main camera features an f/2.2 aperture and PDAF, designed for decent everyday photography.
The camera includes standard features like LED flash and HDR, which help improve photo quality in various lighting conditions. It records videos at 1080p@30fps, delivering acceptable quality for casual video recording. The camera performs well for its price range, producing clear and detailed images in good lighting. However, it struggles in low-light situations, where noise becomes more prominent and details are lost.
The front-facing 5 MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture and HDR support is adequate for selfies and video calls. Like the rear camera, it can also record videos in 1080p@30fps. While it doesn’t offer advanced features found in higher-end smartphones, it gets the job done for basic needs.
Hardware and Software
Under the hood, the Motorola Moto E14 is powered by the same Unisoc T606 chipset of Moto 13, which integrates an octa-core CPU with two 1.6 GHz Cortex-A75 and six 1.6 GHz Cortex-A55 and Mali-G57 MP1 GPUs for graphics processing.
This setup provides a balanced performance suitable for everyday tasks and moderate multitasking. This is the same chipset in other affordable models like the itel P55 and the itel P55 Plus.
The android phone also includes 2GB of RAM and 64GB of UFS 2.2 storage, offering faster data access compared to eMMC storage in previous models. Additionally, there is a microSDXC slot for expandable storage, accommodating users with larger data needs.
The Motorola Moto E14 continues with a 5,000mAh battery, which provides substantial endurance for extended use. The device supports 15W charging, which is a notable improvement over the previous model’s 10W charging capabilities. This faster charging support means less time spent tethered to a charger and more time using the phone.
Motorola Moto E14 runs on Android 14 (Go edition), which is optimized for entry-level devices. This version of Android provides a streamlined user experience with fewer background processes and lighter apps, contributing to better performance on hardware with limited resources. The Go edition is designed to maximize efficiency and usability while maintaining a clean and straightforward interface.
For connectivity options, the Moto E14 includes dual SIM functionality, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5 (ac), and Bluetooth 5.0. The Motorola phone lacks a fingerprint sensor and NFC, which might be a limitation for users who rely on contactless payment options.
However, it retains a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired audio, which is becoming less common in newer models. It also supports Dolby Atmos which enhances audio quality, offering a richer sound experience.
