Nigeria’s number one blog Linda Ikeji’s blog have been finally deleted by Google. A visit to the domain of the blog lindaikeji.blogspot.com returns a Blog has been removed message. The removal is probably connected to a number of copyright and defamation allegations against the blog over the years.

Linda Ikeji Blog Removed by Google

Before its removal Linda Ikeji’s blog was one of the most visited Nigerian websites ranking 10th on Alexa Nigera traffic. It was also the second most visited Nigeria owned website behind NairaLand and was said to be bringing in revenues of over 100 million Naira ($625,000) per year.

Linda Ikeji’s blog has had a number of running battle with other content sites (non with this blog). The blog has been accused of copying contents from other blogs without permission and have also been accused of defamation by a number of Nigerian stars.

Despite the removal, I do not believe this will be the end for the blog. This is because Linda still has a lot of internet assets. First her twitter handle currently has over 414,000 followers and her name draws people to the site. According to Alexa over 60% percent of visitors to the blog use a keyword with Linda Ikeji.

She also hinted she will be back in her first twitter post since the removal.

For now you can read Linda Ikeji Blog on her mobile site lindaikeji.mobi, which does not look pretty on a computer.

Hopefully Linda exported her content to her computer before the shut down. If she did, all she now need is to get the appropriate plug-in that will enable her migrate all her content to WordPress. All she now needs is to figure out a domain name since according to her all the simple domain names have been taken.

The good news for her is that her mobi site ranks second and her twitter handle ranks third for her most popular keyword “Linda Ikeji”. This means that no matter the domain she picks, ranking number one for this keyword will not be very hard.
