Design and Display
The OnePlus Nord 2 5G design features tweaks that facilitates a substantial difference between it and its predecessor.
On the rear, we have an array of three cameras cased in a square-like shape with round edges, as opposed to four cameras with what seemed to be the absence of a square-like camera case. Also on the rear, is the OnePlus mascot, which pretty much indicates its a OnePlus smartphone.
Moving upfront, we are greeted with a 6.43-inch Fluid AMOLED display as opposed to the 6.44-inch display on the first-gen Nord.
The Major difference in display, in my opinion, is the single punch hole camera here, in lieu of the dual camera cut out on its predcessor.
What’s more, both display share the same 1080 x 2400 resolution and the same 90Hz refresh rate. However, the Nord 2 5G has a density of 409 PPI, whereas the former had a density of 408 PPI, which isn’t really much of a difference in my opinion.
The colour option available on this Android phone include Gray Sierra, Blue Haze and Green Wood, which means enthusiasts have three options.
The Cameras
Moving on to the camera department, we are served with a triple camera system on the rear and a single camera system upfront, as opposed to the quad rear setup and the dual front setup on the first-gen Nord.
On the rear setup on the OnePlus Nord 2 5G, we have a 50MP primary camera with an aperture of f/1.9, a 2MP monochrome camera with an aperture of f/2.4 and an 8MP ultrawide camera with an aperture of f/2.3 and a 119˚ FOV.
The front camera setup consists of a single 32MP camera with an aperture of f/2.5. This data shows the absence of a selfie ultrawide camera as seen on the first-gen Nord.
Hardware and Software
On the performance side, the OnePlus Nord 2 5G takes the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 5G processor with a 6nm architecture, as opposed to the Snapdragon 765G 5G processor on its predcessor.
What’s more, we have a Mali-G77 MC9 GPU, options for either 8GB / 12GB RAM, 128GB / 256GB storage options and a non-removable 4500mAh Li-Po battery as opposed to the slightly smaller 4115 mAh battery on it’s predecessor. There is also a 65W fast charge system with tops the 30W fast charge on its predecessor.
On the software side, we have the OxygenOS 11.3 user interface running on the Android 11 operating system.

The Oneplus Nord 2 5G features a USB Type-C (2.0) port, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC. Please note that it doesn’t feature a 3.5mm headphone jack. Private audio listening possible via a USB-C headphone and wireless headphones.
Thanks to its 5G support, streaming, uploads, and downloads are capped at 5G speeds. However, you can only tap into this speed where there is 5G reception.
