Design and Display
If you have seen the designs on the Tecno Camon 18 and 18 premiers, then you shouldn’t expect anything spectacular here, as they all share a similar design.
On the rear, we have what Tecno describes as a glossy mate splicing design, that combines a glossy and matte finish. This finish comes in three colours and they include Dusk Gray, Ceramic White, and Iris purple.
Sitting on the rear is an array of their cameras with an LED flash. You would also find the Tecno branding here, which helps indicate it’s a Tecno Smartphone.
Moving up front, we are greeted with a 6.8 IPS LCD display with a punch-hole camera in the middle, which happens to be similar to what is offered on the standard Camon 18. However, we have a higher refresh rate of 120Hz rate in lieu of 90Hz. Please note that the 18 premier also features a 120Hz refresh rate.
The Cameras
The Tecno Camon 18P cameras are the same as seen on the Camon 18. It’s the same rear camera setup and the same selfie camera.
On the rear setup, we have a 48MP primary camera with an aperture of f/1.8, a 13MP telephoto camera with up to 30x hybrid zoom. Lastly, we have a 2MP depth camera with an aperture of f/2.4.
Tecno also made it known on their website that they have introduced a portrait video mode that also works at night, which means you will be able to achieve sharper images when shooting videos.
The selfie department is manned by a single 16MP camera supported by a dual-LED flash for bright selfies.
Hardware and Software
The Performance setup of the Camon 18P leans more towards the Camon 18 premier. Onboard we have the MediaTek Helio G96 processor, the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, 8GB RAM, 128GB built-in storage, a non-removable 5000mAh battery which is slightly bigger than the 4750mAh battery on the premier. We also have a 33W fast charging mechanism in place.
On the software side, we have the HiOS 8.0 user interface running on the Andriod 11 operating system.
