CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA – TradersUnited (TRU), a community-led organization, aims to empower traders through the educational program TradeGeek and community hub CommuniTrade. The platform provides accessible, up to date, high-quality online trading education for all and fosters an inclusive, scam-free trading environment.
According to TRU, this is the only genuine way for traders to be empowered and liberate themselves from scams and fraud, and ultimately achieve their financial goals.
“Fraudulent activities targeted at traders have become so commonplace. It is now so difficult to discern what is real and what is not,” said TRU Regional Director-South Africa Lilebo Tibone.
She added that all traders should be equipped with the education, skills, and confidence needed to navigate the financial market.
“Our mission is to create a community where every trader, regardless of their background or experience level, can thrive and make informed financial decisions,” says Tibone.
An urgent need for financial literacy
In today’s fast-paced tech-based financial markets, traders face numerous challenges online. Traders go online to learn about trading, find the right broker, make their trades, and pave a way to financial independence. However, it is also the place where they are most susceptible to scams.
The global economy loses about $76 billion each year because of fake and misleading messages online. Moreover, UNESCO reported that 94% of people online have been misled or influenced by disinformation at least once online.
Financial literacy is more than just a set of skills to learn but also a safeguard against deception online.
For South Africa, this is all too true. The South African Banking Risk Information Centre has reported a loss of R1.5 billion from the country’s economy on card and investment fraud.
To add insult to injury, many of South Africa’s most popular financial influencers have been charged with fraud such as SA’s youngest millionaire Sandile Shezi, who has recently been granted bail; and Jabulani Ngcobo AKA “Cashflow” has been sentenced to six years for defrauding his online followers.
Many SA ‘finluencers’ have made victims of their unsuspecting followers – people who just wanted to earn their financial independence. Instead, they fell victim to malicious schemes.
“For the South African public, there is an urgent need for financial literacy,” said Tibone.
TradersUnited makes financial literacy a top priority
According to the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA), the average financial literacy score among South Africans is only 52 out of 100.
“[Low financial literacy] is also a blow to the economy of South Africa, where the financial literacy of its constituents also affects the country’s total debt, poverty, and economic growth,” said Tibone.
This is an unsettling reality for South Africa, where many potential traders are not given the opportunity and access to financial education.
Many aspiring traders are scared off by scams and discourage them from seeing trading as a sound investment.
“We know that a lot of traders in South Africa just want to find their way to financial freedom. However, true liberation can only be achieved if they are financially literate,” said Tibone.
TradersUnited has vowed their commitment to create programs, services, and platforms that will enrich financial literacy for all traders.
The organization initiated TradeGeek, an educational platform that offers accessible, high-quality educational materials for traders. Additionally, they also launched CommuniTrade, a community platform where verified traders can share insights and receive industry updates.
TradeGeek – an online educational platform for traders
The TradeGeek platform is an educational hub for traders that can be accessed for free by anyone.
It currently hosts a Forex curriculum – the first in a series of trading courses. According to the TRU official website, new modules on cryptocurrency, stocks, and indices will also be released soon.
“Forex education is often expensive and gatekept. At TradeGeek, we want to break those barriers and provide free access for all aspiring and experienced traders,” said Tibone.
TradeGeek courses are organized by topic and difficulty level, and each course is brokern down into modules. This allows students to streamline their learning process easily.
“We wanted TradeGeek to simulate a formal curriculum,” said Tibone. “The lessons are designed for traders of all experiences, no matter where they come from,” she added.
Empower traders of all levels
TradeGeek offers a variety of lessons designed for traders of all experience levels. Traders can select between Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert courses.
Each lesson is crafted to be educational yet engaging and simplifies complex concepts without deducting essential information.
“To successfully launch a financial literacy campaign, we must engage all levels and make sure that even the most novice of traders can make it through the expert courses,” said Tibone.
Free lifetime access to all learning resources
TRU assures users and members that the educational materials are free forever.
“As a testament to TRU’s commitment to financial literacy,” Lilebo says, “TradeGeek and all its learning materials are free to access at any time, for all time.”
The platform is available for traders, trade enthusiasts, and anyone who is passionate about the art and science of trading.
Special features for TRU Members
All TradeGeek courses are available for free on the TradersUnited website. Moreover, TRU members can access additional TradeGeek features on CommuniTrade.

“Using TradeGeek on CommuniTrade is like a free upgrade,” exclaimed Tiboneo
The South Africa Regional Director adds, “We encourage traders to sign up as TRU members and discuss with the community. Modules can only teach you so much, but a community’s collective knowledge becomes an infinite well of wisdom.”
What’s in store for TradeGeek?
“TradeGeek is only in its initial stages, and there is so much more in the works for the platform,” said Tibone.
According to the Regional Director, courses on Cryptocurrency, Stocks, and Indices are currently being developed. Educational videos, webinars, and PDF booklets are also on the roadmap.
“We are really excited to share new and more quality learning resources with the trading community. TradersUnited will work hard to deliver free and quality content to every trader,” she added.
TradeGeek is available through the TRU official website and can also be accessed through the CommuniTrade Feed.
