The Design
The design is where the two phones differ. While the iPhone 5C’s body is made of polycarbonate plastic, iPhone 5 is built with top grade Aluminium. This difference in material makes the two phones feel different. iPhone 5 is more than 1 mm slimmer than the iPhone 5C and is also 20 grammes lighter.
iPhone 5C though heavier due to the plastic body, offer more colour options for this reason. While the iPhone 5 can be found in just black or white, iPhone 5C is available in yellow, green, blue, red, or white.
Hardware & Software
Apple iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C feature the same A6 processor, but iPhone 5C will be shipping with iOS 7 while iOS 7 update for iPhone 5 are already available. It is not clear at the time of writing whether the iPhone 5C will be coming with the same 1GB RAM or something higher. All this points to the fact that in terms of smooth performance both devices would not have much on each other.
The big performance boost that the iPhone 5C has over the iPhone 5 is its larger battery that offers up to 2 hours more talk time. While iPhone 5 can only offer up to 8 hours, iPhone 5C can do up to 10 hours.
Aside these the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C is largely the same. They both feature the same 4.0-inch Retina display and same 8 megapixel iSight camera with 1.2 MP FaceTime camera, although iPhone 5C adds a BSI sensor to the front camera. They both feature 4G LTE and dual-band Wi-Fi.
The Bottom Line
Compared to the iPhone 5C, the iPhone 5 is still a great device. It is sleek and stylish and will not be known as the cheap iPhone even that while stocks lasts it will sell cheaper than the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5C offers you more colour options and more use time. Apple has discontinued the iPhone 5, so if you fancy the smart phone, the time to buy is now.
