A 3D TV is a television that displays images in 3D by creating a perception of depth. They are designed to mimic the way our eye view images in the real world. A 3D TV works by giving each eye different sides of the same image more like how they view objects in the real world, enabling the brain create a 3D depth perception of the image.

3D TV – The Technology
A 3D TV works by displaying two offset images simultaneously on the screen. It then uses a stereoscopic technique to deliver one of the offset images to the left eye and the other to the right eye, creating what looks like a 3D image in your brain.
One of the most popular technique used are the 3D glasses. 3D glasses are available in different forms but they all do the same thing. Watching a 3D TV without glasses, you will see the two images super-imposed on each other, but with the 3D glasses, you see one 3D image.
A 3D glass works by filtering out (or switching off) one of the offset images, while allowing the other to pass through to the right eye. In the same vein, the left eye only sees the other image. The result is that each eye sees a different image, creating a 3D depth perception.
A few 3D TVs require no glasses, but they are rare. They use a projection technique to project each image to a different eye. However, you have to be in a particular angle to see the 3D pictures. Some 3D TVs now include eye/head tracking camera to track your angle to the display so as to automatically adjust the projection for a broader viewing range.
