Google has now made Google Currents available to an international audience. Google Currents app for iOS and Android was launched in December, 2011 in the United States. But now Google is offering Currents, an app that enables readers easily access online magazine editions on their smartphones and tablets, globally.
Publishers outside the United States can now publish online editions of their blogs and websites on Google Currents. NaijaTechGuide is already on Google Currents.
The New Google Currents
The new version of Google Currents comes with two key features international support and quick dynamic sync. As part of its international support, Google Current now supports multiple languages and if allowed by a publisher, Google Current’s auto-translate feature will translate a magazine in any of the 38 supported languages to the preferred language of the reader.
The dynamic sync features means readers can now access fresh content faster. Once you open any edition, Google Currents will grab the freshest content for your reading delight. If you own an Android phone or tablet or an iPhone or iPad, visit Google Play or the Apple App Store to download Google Currents.
Since its launch in the United States, Google Currents now boasts of nearly 400 publisher editions and over 14,000 self-produced editions. More international editions are bound to join with this international availability. The Guardian in UK and LaStampa in Italy are already on Google Currents. NaijaTechGuide is also on Google Currents.
