U-Mo, the mobile money service from Afripay a member of the UBA group currently supports three account types. The three U-Mo e-wallet types vary in terms of their target market, per transaction limit, daily transaction limits and the documentation required for registration. The three U-Mo mobile money account types are U-Mo Silver, U-Mo Gold, and U-Mo Platinum.
U-Mo Silver Mobile Money e-wallet
This is the mobile money service for the masses. U-Mo Silver is the easiest to get as it requires no identification and no documents. All you need is fill a very short form (name, address, sex, occupation, and phone number) and you are good to go. This U-Mo mobile money account will be great for students, micro businesses and the unbanked.
The U-Mo Silver is limited to a single transaction of not more than N3,000. This means that with the Silver account you cannot spend more than N3,000 on a single transaction (buy or transfer). In addition, you cannot spend more than N30,000 from your U-Mo mobile money e-wallet in one day. So, you cannot spend more N3,000 per transaction, but you can engage in multiple transactions per day that must not cumulatively exceed N30,000.
U-Mo Gold Mobile Money e-wallet
The U-Mo Gold is a mid-range account. It has a higher per transaction and daily transaction limit. It could be great for you if you are likely to usually make payments and transfers that will exceed N3,000. The U-Mo Gold allows you spend a maximum of N10,000 per transaction from your mobile money e-wallet or a maximum of N100,000 per day. However, the Gold mobile money e-wallet requires more documentation. However, if you have a savings account with any bank in Nigeria, you can just provide your account number to avoid further documentation. If you have no savings account, you will be required to provide similar documentation as will be required to open a savings account.
