Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is the first PlayStation certified smartphone. Sony Ericsson Xperia Play brings together the best of the Android OS and the PlayStation Portable (PSP) on a smartphone. Xperia Play will run on Gingerbread (version 2.3), the latest version of Google’s Android platform. It promises super-fast performance with a 1GHz processor combined with an Adreno GPU graphics processor. Sony Ericsson Xperia Play also features a 4.0-inch touchscreen, a 5.1 megapixel camera with HD capability, GPS navigation with Google Maps, built-in Sony PSP gaming controls, GSM/GPRS/EDGE or CDMA variants, up to 32GB memory card, high speed HSDPA internet with HSDPA+ or EVDO Rev.A, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, etc.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will deliver great performance, featuring a 1GHz Scorpion ARMv7 processor and an Adreno GPU graphics processor. Xperia Play offers super-fast performance and a superior mobile communications and entertainment experience. It runs the Google Android 2.3 OS. Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, like most Android Smartphones comes preloaded with Google software and apps like Google Search, GMail, Google Maps, Google Talk, YouTube, and Picasa. Also expect good social media integration with Twitter and Facebook.
A PlayStation Smartphone
Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is the first certified PlayStation phone. It combines a powerful smartphone and a PlayStation Portable in one device. Sony Ericsson Xperia Play looks just like a smartphone in portrait view but slide-out the controls and you have for yourself a great mobile gaming device. The gaming controls are very similar to the controls on Sony PSP. Sony Ericsson Xperia Play also features similar graphics quality as the PSP and will support 3D gaming, thanks to the combination of a 1GHz processor and a GPU graphics processor. It will also support gesture gaming and motion gaming.
Xperia Play is a PlayStation phone and hence will have access to PlayStation game contents. Sony Ericsson is partnering with leading game publishers to ensure that leading titles will be available for the Xperia Play.
Display & Camera
Sony Ericsson Xperia Play features a 4.0-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with multi-touch. The display is brilliant with a crisp, clear view offering a resolution of 480×854 pixels. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play has two cameras. The rear facing camera of the Xperia Play is a 5.1 megapixel camera with HD video (720p) recording capability. The camera also features Autofocus, Image stabiliser, Flash, and Video light. The second is a front facing camera.
Network, Data, and Internet browsing
Depending on your location Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will be in two variants, one supporting GSM family and the other CDMA. Xperia Play GSM edition will support quad-band GSM and data services on GPRS/EDGE. On 3G networks the GSM edition supports high-speed HSDPA data. Sony Ericsson Xperia Play – CDMA editions supports EVDO Rev.A. Both variants may be available in some markets. Both variants support Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with DLNA.
Sony Ericsson Xperia Play supports Bluetooth 2.1 for short-range wireless connectivity. Users can transfer files from/to their computer wirelessly via Bluetooth as well as share content wirelessly with other Bluetooth enabled devices. Sony Ericsson Xperia Play also features USB 2.0.

Users will have access to over 100,000 apps at Android Market plus PlayStation games. To store your contents, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play has an 8GB memory card included. If you need more storage, the Xperia Play can support up to 32GB microSD memory card.
